FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Four New England Patriots players, including receiver Randy Moss, were sent home from Gillette Stadium for being late for an 8 a.m. meeting Wednesday, the Providence Journal reported.

In addition to Moss, the other players were defensive end Derrick Burgess and linebackers Adalius Thomas and Gary Guyton, according to the report. The players were apparently delayed by weather conditions, and will reportedly not be able to participate in meetings or practice Wednesday.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick did not confirm the report.

"Anything that happens with discipline on the team will stay between me and the players," Belichick said Wednesday morning.

Tom Brady also declined to discuss the report, speaking generally about Belichick's role as coach and his job as quarterback.

"You guys find out everything these days," Brady told reporters during his weekly press conference Wednesday. "That's coach's decision. The guys that are here, I have to do my job, I have plenty of things to do. Like I said, I have show up every day and bring whatever I have -- the energy and leadership that I have to this team. That's what I owe those guys. That's what my job is."

Veteran running back Kevin Faulk was asked if he thinks coach Belichick handles those type of disciplinary situations well.

"That's what he's the coach and I'm the player," said Faulk, who earlier deferred questions on the topic to Belichick.

Outside linebacker Tully Banta-Cain was asked if he was frustrated that three defensive teammates were reportedly sent home.

"You know what, I have no comment on that. I really don't know the situation," he said. "If they were sent home, that's Bill's deal. Hopefully I'll see them tomorrow."

they had a good run. Next year will be make or break for the club in it's current configuration

How does 4 players late because of the weather mean that there are disciplinary problems in New England?

i think they are in transition and getting younger, especially on defense..i dont think they will be a major factor in the playoffs this year, but with another good draft, watch out for them next year..

I don't think the ship is taking on water because of this. The ship is taking on water because they simply aren't as good as they were.

Now's the wrong time to go all Junction Boys on your players, BB. Too late in the season.

OT: Brady's wife just had a baby boy.

Because the coach sent them home??? I just think it's funny to see that everything isn't so rosey in NE after all.

*shrug* if it was the weather and BB has hard rules about tardiness, I don't think this is a big deal at all.

Atleast you said it and not me(Since I'm Mr. Negative). I agree with you. Maybe the Skins would be a better team with discipline like this.

You mean equal treatment? A standard set of rules that EVERYBODY has to apply to?

Team concept, what a novel idea.

Sorry Mike but this attempt to make the Pats look bad just further exploits what is wrong with our team.

He's getting flashbacks of Annapolis, where the players lived 200 yards from the practice facility and faced harsh penalties for being late to pretty much anything. He's a big turkey.

Yes sirrrrr

At ease, lol. Have a drink

Seriously, the quickest way to erode a team is to give certain players special treatment. I'm not saying everyone is treated exactly the same but the rules stand for everyone.

Read a small item in the boston globe that cites "player loafing" during a recent game as a reason for the clamp down. One of the coaches picked it up while reviewing film. Players must be catching hell.
