Giants GM Jerry Reese has gotten a lot of praise heaped on him for his putting together the roster that the G men have after Accorsi left..
But
his work last year leaves a lot to be desired.
He spent 84 million dollars in free agent contracts on 4 players who were supposed to rejuvenate the defense..All have disappointed

Chris Canty (DL): 0 sacks.. a few tackles. injured and little impact on the defense
Michael Boley (LB): suspended. injured. almost zero impact
CC Johnson (S): complete bust. not even playing
Rocky Bernard (DT): complete bust. not even ACTIVE on game days

what about his draft class ?
Nicks (WR): definitely having impact. 11 games. 38 receptions. 6 TD's.. looks like a good one

Beatty(OT): active for 13 games.. decent reserve. should develop

Barden(WR): active in only 2 games. zero impact

Stintim(LB): 6 tackles and 1 sack for the year.. meh...

Beckem(TE): 5 receptions for 35 yards.. meh..

the most impact ? B Johnson CB--F.A.-- 22 tackles 1 sack--1 interception.. great find

So, he has had a decent year as a drafter, but has positively sucked as a FA evaluator. plus, his choice for DC, Sheridan, looks out of his depth and may not survive beyond this year..

Genius ??? hardly.....

I guess he'll have to console himself with the Superbowl ring and the winning record they have so far this season lol.

the Superbowl team was really put together by Accorsi.. Reese just added the final pieces

that said, i still think he is light years better than anything the Redskins have had since Beathard.. but, just pointing out that Free agents are truly a crapshoot, even when they look great on paper and they have produced for their former team.

the Giants dont do a lot of free agent shopping as a rule, this might make them even less inclined to do more...

IF Canty WAS the Redskins first choice before they could get Haynesworth, all i can say is, thank goodness it didnt work out that way.
As for Bernard and Boley, there were several posters here, MYSELF INCLUDED, who were touting both of these guys for the Redskins this past off season...

To be fair, Boley has been pretty good when he got healthy. Canty sucks donkey balls. Anyone who watched him in Dallas would have known that ;)

add suisham to that list of woe...

over the ENTIRE history of the two franchises i am really struggling to think of ANY former cowboys who were productive as Redskins

the rare examples i can come up with are
Calvin Hill-- briefly
John Wilbur- solid contributor for a few years
Jean Fugette- 1 season, maybe

anyone got any others ???

He gets an A+ from this one signing! :)

Nicks will be a stud for years to come.
