If he can keep blitzing LB's off of Ramsey, it's a good thing.

Flemister must have been a real bust if they cut his contract [with signing bonus] to sign a guy who does not know the offense and is reportedly out of shape.
Considering the penalties being rung up by the offensive line and the way blitzes are affecting the offense, signing a new tight end would not exactly be my top priority right now.
My guess is that it won't make much difference one way or the other.

I'll be surprised if Chamberlain makes any difference at all. And he's still not a long term solution.
A cheap half-year deal I suppose? Well Flemister was just keeping the seat warm for someone else eventually anyway.

if chamberlain can get into to football shape quickly, and get a crash course on SS's offense, i think he can make a difference. this is a guy that was a probowler before and ramsey could use a reliable TE to throw to....when was the last time flemister had a catch??

Flem had a $2.02 million contract extension last year with a $350,000 signing bonus. Chamberlain gets a 2 year deal worth a little over $2 million with incentives

What is the Cap penalty for such a move? Anyone know?

Instead of a $175,000 cap hit this year it's $350,000. We added $175k just by cutting Flemister.

Can't say that I'm sad to see this happen. I'm still shocked that they gave Flemister the deal that they did in the offseason.

The question is . . . can he block? If he is any good at picking up the blitz and blocking, even if he is out of shape he's got to help.

Love the optimism *lol*. But if... we could build a giant dome to live in... & if we could pump it with pollution free air.... we could all live to be a thousand.
But hey, maybe it will keep us from drafting a TE in the first two rounds.

Chamberlain must be able to block because his fat butt ain't running down field.

He'd better block better than Flemister, since that's about as difficult as finding a blonde in Abercrombie and Fitch.

He's about 270 + right now so that alone should make him a decent blocker.

I am glad we are giving him a shot. He was good when he was in shape. It would be nice to have our own Beast at TE. If he can block then that is a sure plus!!!!!!!

Yes! We needed a blocking TE and we will get that out of Chamberlain.
