With Cleveland winning, I believe since we had an easier schedule, we gained a spot in the draft! Now we pick 5th, if we lose next week and Tampa and KC both win, I believe we jump them too, so top 3 pick may come. Excuse me while I down another beer

BA had better draft well.

For more good news, I won two auctions on EBay tonight. woohoo!

Seriously, though, the better the draft position, the happier we'll be come April. Losing next week helps us.

So Suisham did us a favor by missing those kicks against Dallas and NO.

Unfortunately I think both Tampa and KC lose next week.

Well unless SD rests their entire 1st string from the start there is no way we come within 14 points of them. So at least we have that going for us. Unfortunately I don't think they can improve their position at all.

They are locked in as the 2 seed. Their current win streak is the only thing to play for.

The San Diego backups will probablly play 3 of the 4 quarters. Fortuanately for the Redskins draft postion, the game will probably be put away after the 1st quarter.

MONK_in_HOF

Really they probably only have to play their starters for 1 quarter to put the game out of reach.

If the SD backups can put up about 14 points, that should be enough to grab victory.

we have saved the Giants so many times by letting them roll us, at least it was nice to see us put out their lights--even if we did it by losing..

Well, some more good newws, at least for me, is that these late games are preventing me from watching the second half of these abominations.

That's two straight games in which my misery has ended before/at halftime.

So here is my message to Bruce Allen: if we are going to suck horribly next year as well, please see to it that games are played as late as possible.

I don't know if that is good news. Those picks are hard to trade out of off. The other part that worries me is that they will think so much of Jimmy Clausen that we'll trade the " farm " to go up and get him. With the 3rd overall I would take Suh. Best player available. Start rebuilding the line with our 2nd and 4th round picks.

With the quantity of immediate needs, a top 5 pick is, IMHO, worth only trade bait.
The Redskins needs run deep! I can only hope that the new FO Team will learn the lesson: build the lines and the rest will take care of itself!

tuckahoeskin
12-28-2009, 09:19 AM
I don't see us being able to swing the 3rd pick. Simply too many things need to go our way. However, if we are able to get it, San Francisco and their two first round picks might be trade partners if the right player is available. A lot of ifs, but that's the way it is.

The good news is the Skins are closer to the best O-lin men on the board. Not one of those maybe Qb's {wait til next year we'll be drafting in the top 10 again} or trade down a FEW spots get the 3rd and 6th back and keep drafting O-linemen until Kiper says uncle don't care if the Skins end up with 15 picks O-linemen and of corse the Stanford running back for Shanny.

That is because many of our starters would be 2nd team players elsewhere, and in some cases (mainly OL) 3rd string.

Better hope that in that top 5 position that they don't saddle your team with a big contract to Jimmy Clausen or Sam Bradford. That would be horrible for you cause I really think they both are going to suck in the NFL.

that is the real negative of a top 5 pick.. if you dont get a Rivers or Peyton with the pick you are saddled with a huge contract.. and those picks are harder to trade

Dear lord-

I know I am not in a position to ask for any favors. I just wanted to let you know humbled I am by the redskins performance the past year
and half... If it be your will, please find a way for
us to draft Suh and bring in an attacking d coordinator who will unleash the hounds.

Thy will be done.

+1 it would be re-run of David Carr. look at him and campbell, they both have been so beat up that they will never be a viable QB in this league because if a mouse farts they hear a D-Lineman comming to crush them

I too think Sam Bradford will be good, maybe even great but you have to build inside out in this league and thats starts with our Lines.:Peace:

No point in starting him if we draft him until we get a better offensive line. Start Campbell if we keep him or some other retread. we are going to suck for at least two more years.

We need offensive lineman. No one disagrees with that. But with where we are picking we cannot afford to screw it up. If Suh is there we should take him. Griffin won't be here for very long. Before we know it Hanyesworth will not be a cap friendly player. Other than TE there isn't a position on the team that doesn't need an upgrade. Maybe with an uncapped year we can get this teams salary situation straightened out.

I want us to take nothing but OL, but if Suh is there then we'd be retarded not to take him. Our D (assuming we hire someone who likes pressure) would be sick.

I don't care if the reincarnation of Deacon Jones is available, we need to draft an offensive tackle and then a guard with our first two picks. Our D needs a philosophy change primarily. Carter and Orakpor are fine as end rushers and Jarmon will return next year. Let Haynesworth loose and you get inside pressure. Assuming Horton returns OK, the safety position is covered and if our future QB has time Devin Thomas, Moss, and Kelly will see dramatic improvement. The only other position would be OLB with the second pick so Orakpor becomes a full time down lineman.

We could trade down for more picks, but still focus on the OL. Then again, I have been making this arguement for years.

Shame of it is, many of us have been saying the same thing. The problem is, come draft time, Snyder falls in love with the flash.

I just heard a commercial on the radio for a free-style motocross show coming to Richmond sometime soon. It was a typical crappy motocross/drag racing commercial with the dramatic announcer and repetitve phrases. Listening to this, the thought hit me that this is the type of thing that must be running through Snyders head when he falls in love with a flashy player. "Take him, take him, take him!!!" All the excitement of the moment, but nothing worthy to show.

I've said it before, like many others have, if Snyder is as big a fan for as long as he claims, how could could not understand the importance of a dominant offensive line? He must be the Slingblade of billionaires.

ok not 100% sure of this but i think it goes like this with the first tie breaker and that is determined by the division record, since we are 0 and 6 ,we will draft before all the teams with a five win record regardless of what we do sunday because all of the 5 win team have won at least one division game,
both of the 12 and 3 teams have at least one division win, so should they win
sunday and we lose we will draft before they do , so the way i see it if we lose sunday and k.c and tampa loses, we will get the third pick , so i do think we have an excellent chance of getting at least the 4th pick. the 0 for 6 division record is huge for us .

No.

The draft order is determined as such:
1st - Winning percentage
2nd - Strength of schedule
3rd - Division record
4th - Conference record
5th - Coin Flip

(There are also other options for superbowl teams and playoff teams).

So....
-If we lose, and Kansas City AND Tampa win, then we will have the third pick.
-If we lose, and Kansas City OR Tampa win, then we will have the fourth pick.
-If we lose, and Kansas City AND Tampa lose, then we will have the fifth pick.
-If we win, and Cleveland AND Seattle Win, then will have the fifth pick.
-If we win, and Cleveland OR Seattle lose, then we will have the sixth pick.
-If we win, and Cleveland AND Seattle lose, then we will have the seventh pick.

And that is how it goes (I'm pretty sure - Someone correct me if I'm wrong).
