I think I'll go with the Longhorns in an upset, 26-23.

Andre Ware just picked Alabama. Two of the three on the pre-game show on ESPNU picked the Crimson Tide.

I think it will be a close game, probably decided by a field goal. I'll take Texas and the points.

I'm not even going to watch. This is a big "Who cares" for me, just like every other bowl game.

I predict mass domestic violence and bar brawls here if Bama is upset by UT. The local NBC affiliate promised to break in to regular programming to show the trophy presentation. Amazing.

NNebraska's good. Real good. Save a couple brain-farts, they could have been a top-5 team. They could make anyone look bad.

halftime at the BCS, BAMA-24-TEX-ASS-6-mccoy out of game in 1st quarter.

That last play call was bad, really bad. UT's shot at winning went out the window when McCoy went down. This is going to get really ugly for the Horns.

BigTex

The Horns defense has more than done their part in this one. That last possession had two PA's that could've been called against Alabama. Unless the Horns defense finds a way to score this game is going to the Crimson Tide.

Gotta hand it to Bama. They went out and did what they had to do to win and you've got to congratulate them on winning the national championship. The Longhorns did well to hang in there after McCoy went down. Ingram is a pretty good runner. I liked Richardson more tonight though. Much better explosion through the hole. He doesn't read blocks as well yet as Ingram, but that'll come in time.

Gilbert will be a high first round pick in three years. His dad is former NFL journeyman QB Gale Gilbert. The older posters around here might remember him. He did an exceptional job in the 2nd half considering the circumstances. He'll likely set every single season and game record for passing in the book at Texas before he heads to the NFL.

UT's defense played a heckuva game (As did Bama). They did everything they could to keep them in it. Will Muschamp is going to be a great head coach on the "40 Acres" in a few years when Mack steps down. He has the defense playing at a consistently high level that I've honestly never seen UT play at.

One thing I do know for sure after tonight about the Crimson Tide. It's one heck of an accomplishment for Alabama to win a national title with Greg McElroy at QB. He read the blitz tonight worse than Jason Campbell. He might be the worst QB of a national champion in at least the last 30 years. I won't compare him to Trent Dilfer because I don't want to insult a mediocre to average QB like Dilfer with such a comparison. I've watched McElroy going back to his time at Southlake Carroll (He's the QB that took over after Chase Daniel left for Mizzou.) and I've never been enamored with him. Saban did a great job to game plan around his many deficiencies this season.

Again congratulations to the Crimson Tide fans. Enjoy and savor winning the title for a good while. You never know when the next one will come.

So the injury did nothing to impact the game?

I think it's more like having a punishing defense willing to change the game.
Alabama still wins with or without colt.

" He might be the worst QB of a national champion in at least the last 30 years." Did you watch the florida game? He won the mvp of that game.
The Dude just had a bad ball game. Texas played great and Alabama had a big lead and did not rely on him to win the game. He may not be Colt or even gilbert for that matter, but if it was not for him at auburn we would not be celebrating right now. He not be great but he does have ring on his finger.

#3 for heisman in 2010.

Bull. They'd have lost by 10+ points with Colt in there. They'd have had to throw the ball, and McElroy was getting lit up every time he dropped back to pass. You won by default. It's better than losing, but Bama was clearly the second best team on the field last night. They looked about as well prepared at the beginning of the game as they were last year when they were killed by Utah.

That said, I don't know what the hell Texas was thinking calling a QB draw play on the first series of the game when they were moving the ball at will. I also can't understand why they didn't have a more experienced QB on the bench. They should've had a junior backup to come in and play, not a true freshman. I think they just became too complacent with McCoy standing under center the last 4 years. You don't expect a stud QB, because no one's going to commit to Texas to stand behing Colt for 3-4 years, but they should have a better fill-in than Gilbert. Also, the Texas receivers were awful in the first half after Colt went down. They seemed to be allergic to the ball. Gilbert's passes weren't perfect, but he had 4-5 dropped, including the killer pick-6 on the shovel pass. I have no idea how you don't catch that ball.

And Texas would have lost by 20 if Ingram didn't get cramps that cost him a half basically lol.

Other:

-POTUS called Saban today to offer congratulations. I assume White House visit is upcoming.

-Some outfit (Stadium Associates) out west is selling pieces of the Rose Bowl sod from the NC game. Someone has already ordered one of the large A's from the endzone.

-The team returns to T-town at 7:15 tonight central time.

-Plans for a statue of Nick will commence immediately, per the athletic director.

-I have to throw up.

The first question at his presser today was about the statue! lol. He said, "My wife asked me about that this morning..." I guess he has to pick an inscription or something for the wraparound backdrop.

When the statue is unveiled, I will start a thread on it! Too funny.

Only problem with that is that it would have to be Florida, who hammered the #3 team in the country at the time, [Cincinatti] if there were a +1 game.

texas in 2009 was the most overated team in the country.had the refs not added a second to the clock after it ran out against nebraska, they would'nt have made it to the bcs championship.alabama had a few close games, but they knocked everybody down on the ground and kept kicking them till the clocl expired.get used to bama being 1st for awhile since most of the team will be back the next 2 seasons at least.

McCoy has been hit hard before. The A&M game his freshman year comes to mind when he got knocked out of the game. There was also the K-State game in Manhattan that year that he was knocked out of (Jevan Snead nearly pulled it out.) on the opening drive. The hit that knocked him out of the Alabama game wasn't much different than the other hits that knocked him out of a game during his 4 years as a starter.
