I am more excited than anyone that Dan Snyder has finally seen the light and realized football decisions need to be made by football experts. This was as tough a season as I can remember, especially living in the Philly area and taking a bunch of heat from all the Eagle fans.

I am looking forward to the bright future we have under the new leadership, however I am extremely nervous heading into the 2010 NFL draft.

ESPN.com has a team draft history under the draft section of the site and Bruce Allen's history as a GM in Tampa and Denver's drafts under Shanahan have been pretty poor with the exception of Denver's 2006 draft. Granted 2005 was a decent year for Allen in T.B., with Rudd & Cadillac, it could have been a good draft had Cadillac not been plagued with injuries.

By no means do I want to come across as a downer, however this draft is extremely important, as we are not a team that has to rebuild from the ground up. We are a team with a good defense and need to retool on offense. If we have a good draft we are going to be competitive in the NFC East next year as no team is overly dominant. We saw what the Giants are without Plaxico, we saw who the Eagles were when the had to play teams with a winning record (Zero Wins), and Dallas needs to do more for me to be a believer.

We need to build a new youthful O-line in the early rounds, draft an RB / DB in Rounds 3 or 4. Let's give Thomas and Floyd a chance at the WR position, and with the emergence of Fred Davis as a legitimate TE threat, we could run a lot of two TE sets that I think will give teams a lot of trouble.

Attached is the link to the site, please let me know what you think....am I overreacting????

yea, i'm concerned they'll go QB at #4 and to me there's just such a good chance that will be a bust (and expensive salary hit).

i really hope someone has a hardon for whoever's sitting out there at #4 and we can trade down a few or several slots and stock pile some 2-4 round picks while still grabbing the best available O-lineman in the first.

Am I alone in thinking we should take Berry or Haden with the 4th pick? Our biggest concern is OL, but both of those men are serious prospects and with the installation of the zone blocking scheme we can look further down at a Selvish Capers or a Jared Veldheer in the latter rounds. I don't like the idea of locking up a "franchise" tackle in a scheme that allows quick and agile lineman a chance to flourish.

Thoughts?

I said the same thing in another thread... If we couldnt trade back then I wouldnt be mad if we went with berry with the 4th pick.. that would make our secondary light years ahead..

I'm not sure Berry is still there at No. 4. A lot of folks think he might be the best player in this draft.

I recommend nobody look up Eric Berry on YouTube, lest they fall in love with him as a player in about two seconds. There is certainly an Ed Reed/Sean Taylor feel about the guy in that he is a play-maker who can lay the wood. Obviously no ST size, but he sure looks like a ball-hawk in the same mold.

Too Late! lol
but if we draft berry with the number 4 pick that could possibly give us the safety tandem that we were cheated out of by an ass with a gun (ST's shooter)
and Tony Pike (cincy's qb) would be a great pick in rounds 3-4 IMO

yeah if we pick at #4, berry or suh would be the only two worth the contract

Jimmy Johnson was asked on camera why the Redskins had such a poor scouting staff. He answered the scouts were very good, but snyderatto didn't listen to them. If this is true and Morocco et al are kept around, and Allen/Shanahan listen to them, it could be interesting.

On #4, the need is a game changer, and the most important position in this regard is qb. Personally I am uncomfortable with what is available there (fear they are good college system qbs with poor pro bodies and developable but as yet unrealized skills, for instance at reading defenses). I hope Mr. Johnson is right, and we get the game changer the high draft position expects.

Insider does a good job of breaking down the local prospect from Maryland. If you're not an insider a 49ers blog posted it...

At #4 the need is impact. Most important position is QB, but don't ignore the uglies. For instance Rothlisberger had a good year but the SB champs went to chumps when a true impact player, Polamalu, went down for an extended period. So if no QB is franchise and good Ts are available in round 2 look for impact, and Berry seems to be the real deal.
