". . . here is a guy who thought he could build a football team just because he has the money to buy players. There's more to it than that.
"And he's not a compassionate person, not a compassionate person at all from what I understand. And that makes me just want to pummel somebody. You know, you hate to see pride, wearing itself on his forehead and his chest.
"And to me, arrogance sticks out like a sore thumb when you talk about him. And the lack of compassion for others is a problem. Because it's not that hard to be compassionate; you just choose to."

Not that I am interested in defending Snyder, but I can't say that I care what Emmit thinks. Everything he has said about Snyder is true about his boy Jerry Jones, so this comes off as ridiculous.

Great analysis. I don't recall Jerruh sending his plane filled with supplies back and forth to Haiti.

I'm amazed that Emmitt pronounced our owner's name properly....
......or was able to conjugate a sentence properly....
....or said this with major drooling...

Speaking of which, this is an entertaining article. First, because it calls that little weasel Jerry Jones out. Secondly, because it has ridiculous pictures that illustrate the very things that Emmitt is accusing Danny of doing, as if Snyder has exclusive rights to be a prick.
Warning: The photos may make you want to throw up.

Seems to me that Emmitt is still ticked about his 0.72 ypc performance at FedEx in his last game wearing a Cowboys jersey. lol

He should stick to his JUST FOR MEN commercials and stay shut... A ex Cowgirl i bet if Snyder would have given him a huge contract at the end of his carrer he would have taken it... Please.

Emmit Smith should keep his mouth shut and stick to those "beard dye" commercials. *edit - Gunnar beat me to the punch lol
I can't stand him as a commentator. Aside from that, he has no business being in front of a mic. The man's grasp of the English language is weaker than that of a child from a non-English speaking country.

Oooh shoot. He completely debacled Snyder there.

This answers your question for you. Guy's just running his mouth on what he's heard through the grapevine.
And he's not a compassionate person, not a compassionate person at all from what I understand.

Hey Emmitt, how did that stint with the Cardinals work out for you?
What happened to the "compassion" when you did not want to take less money to stay with your Cowgirls, or when Jerruh let you walk?

So, it sounds like to me that ES has never met Snyder. He's just taking what other people feel about DS.
I'm glad he said this. My hatred for him was apparently wearing off. It's back to 100%.

Wow Emmut, really? REALLY?
Can I second what a guy on the first page said; was Jerry Jones sending his plane filled with supplies to Haiti? Christ.
EMMUT please strive for clarity when you speak. Not only are you not able to form coherent sentences most of the time, you don't even know half the words you say, such as "pelaties", "rice of passage", etc. etc. as evidenced here

Seriously Emmut godamnit, why are you still on TV? WHY?

Snyder has cast himself in the mold of his friend and hero, Jerry Jones.
At least Snyder has finally brought in some real NFL people to run this show versus keeping his fingers in the pie like Jerruh.

Emmitt should listen to the Samuels retirement news conference about that story Samuels told about his brother and Snyder letting him use his plane, calling him every hour to check in, etc.

I think this just reinforces my want to be in Canton, late this summer, to be a part of "debacling" his HOF acceptance. We'll set another record in Canton, longest sustained 'Booo!'
Oh and of course, the feeling is mutual. We fans enjoy every victory over the 'turds more than any other. I'll give him a shred of credit for getting the rivalry thing.

I guess Emmitt Smith wasn't impressed with the way Dan Snyder handled himself during Sean Taylor's death and that he sent a plane to Haiti with supplies after the earthquake.

Snyder responds(H/T Maese):
I applaud Emmitt Smiths induction into the NFL Hall of Fame and, from what I understand, hes a heck of a dancer. I think we’ve only met once briefly at an NFL function in 2000. I will say, however, that I like to think of myself as being a compassionate person, except toward the Dallas Cowboys.

I can't believe no one has yet commented on when he said he wants to pummel someone because of Snyder's lack of compassion, which I see as a good trait in a business owner actually.
Seems he might need some therapy for that. "Snyder wasn't compassionate AGAIN today, time to kick the dog"

Snyder made his millions (his first millions) in communications, I doubt if he needed, or wanted, a publicist to handle this one.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post/_/id/11769/why-did-emmitt-knee-cap-dan-snyder
First of all, I thought SLAM was a basketball magazine. I recently canceled my subscription in favor of Dime Magazine (http://dimemag.com/), but perhaps that was a bit premature. For reasons that are still unclear to the Beast blog, the good folks at SLAM featured an interview with former Cowboys running back (http://www.slamonline.com/online/other-ballers/2010/03/talking-withemmitt-smith/2/) Emmitt Smith in their most recent issue.
But in the midst of what appeared to be a fairly innocuous Q&A, Smith decided to run over Skins owner Dan Snyder with a bus. Asked which team in the NFC East he most enjoyed beating, the soon-to-be Hall of Famer delivered this gem (http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4666947/redskins-snyder-responds-to-emmitts-shot):
"I loved defeating the Redskins," said Smith. "I loved it, I loved it, I loved it with a passion. And I loved it more when Daniel Snyder got the team, for a number of reasons. I did. Because here is a guy who thought he could build a football team just because he has the money to buy players. There's more to it than that.
"And he's not a compassionate person, not a compassionate person at all from what I understand. And that makes me just want to pummel somebody. You know, you hate to see pride, wearing itself on his forehead and his chest. And to me, arrogance sticks out like a sore thumb when you talk about him. And the lack of compassion for others is a problem. Because it's not that hard to be compassionate; you just choose to."
Anyone have a clue where the "compassion" stuff came from? It's fair to criticize Snyder for attempting to buy championships, although Smith should be thankful the Redskins owner took that approach. But the repeated mentions of a lack of compassion were downright bizarre. If you're going to attack a man's character, it's often helpful to provide two or three examples. Otherwise, you come off looking like a loose cannon.
I don't know Snyder particularly well, but I've always been told that he's extremely generous with his money. I didn't hear about any other NFL owners lending their private planes to the Haiti relief efforts. I'm not sure who Smith's been talking to about Snyder (Riggo?) but he showed poor form in his interview with SLAM. And by the way, here's Snyder's tongue-in-cheek response:
"I applaud Emmitt Smith's induction into the NFL Hall of Fame and, from what I understand, he's a heck of a dancer. I think we've only met once briefly at an NFL function in 2000. I will say, however, that I like to think of myself as being a compassionate person, except toward the Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=dal)."
It takes skill to make Snyder seem like a sympathetic character. But Emmitt was up to the challenge.

Which is why he would have a good publicist on staff. I am sure he OK'd the release, but he is management, not labor.
