Gary Fitzgerald, of Redskins.com, reports the Washington Redskins brought collegiate referees in to monitor both the Wednesday, Oct. 8, and Thursday, Oct. 9, practices this week. The Redskins lead the league with 55 penalties in five games.

The Refs are back! Lets hope it works this time...

Updating previous reports, Mark Maske, of the Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins OG Dave Fiore (knee) practiced on Thursday, Oct. 9, and expects to play in Sunday's, Oct. 12, game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fiore has missed the last two games because of the injury.

Not big news...we already knew this...

Mark Maske, of the Washington Post, reports the NFL has fined Washington Redskins DE Regan Upshaw $5,000 for a late hit on Philadelphia Eagles OT Jon Runyan during Sunday's, Oct. 5, game.

Runyan takes a "dive" and Upshaw gets a fine...but people like Larry Centers (who hit Trotter Helmet-2-Helmet) and the Jet's Safety (who hit Royal Helmet-2-Helmet) get away free of charge?

The NFL enforces the rules for guys who already have a reputation. I've seen some helmet to helmet shots laid on Ramsey too without fines.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the helmet to helmet hits we were taking, it's obvious the refs didn't

They fine that but not the late hit on ramsey, that was sooooo obvious and hard?

In the NHL a player gets two minutes in the penalty box for taking a dive for "unsportsman like conduct". That play pissed me off to no end. Laid around like a friggen soccer player waiting to draw a yellow card.....yellow flag.....

How in the heck can the league look at that play, watch Nunyan lie there like he dieing, then as soon as the flag gets thrown he runs off the field on his own, then fine Upshaw $5000 dollars?

It's surprising that Centers wasn't fined for the hit on Trotter. Where's their email address, I think I'll send them a note.

Upshaw has a reputation for stupid penalties, the NFL tends to be harsher on repeat offenders .. often unfairly as we saw with Mark Carrier.
