it seems like everybody here at HR is down on Laron Landry or wants him to be traded. But i think he can have a huge year for us.What do you guys think about this article on Landry and him in our Defense next year

I was a little surprised that the article stated he was definitely moving to SS (and bulking up to 230lbs!!). After LT the Skins could draft a FS with their next pick.

Nobody should miss Sean Taylor more than Laron Landry. Had Sean lived, I think there would be little doubt that he and Laron would have formed one of the best safety tandems in history--with Sean at free and Laron at strong.

Landry should play near the box, because his strength is not covering speedy wideouts deep. Hopefully, the new regime would utilize him in that way. There is not much point in trading him now, because his trading value is low coming off a poor season.

Has he learned how to tackle, take proper angles, read a play and be smart? If not he will continue to be a useless, showboater who keeps offensive drives alive with stupid penalties, no matter what position designation he has.

Couldn't agree more. Landry was damned near useless, and I have zero faith that changes. Its sad b/c I wanted Landry in part b/c ST was coming into his own and could cover soooo much territory that I thought it would allow LL to freelance more than normal.

Bulking up to 230-240? Sounds more like a LB than a SS.

+1

I was gonna refer him the NFL JPD youth development DVD that instructs the importance of wraping up while tackling.

Sean's playing weight was 231-238.

Sean's playing weight was 231-238.

He had a much different frame than LL does. Sean had long arms, legs, and was 2-3" taller.

LL is more compact. I do think he can play at 225-230. He's got the raw speed and agility. I think he'll be more of a LB in the box at times though. I doubt he'll be asked to cover much. Or maybe, they're planning a full time move to LB lol???

sean was playing around 210 his last year that's one of the reasons he was so successful as a free safety

I do recall reports that Sean had slimmed down to 215'ish his last year.

It's going to be hilarious when labomb tries to do his little celebrations the times he actually manages to make a play. Shanny won't be having any of that.

It doesnt matter how big he gets, TEs are still going to eat his lunch off the line.

Espcially now that he will be playing alot closer to the LOS.

Landry puts alot of things behind him. Mostly opposing receivers.
