Why is he disappearing as a play maker, a game changer, a big impact player. Last three weeks he has not come up with the big catches that make a difference. Why are we not taking shots to Coles long.

I've been asking myself that for three weeks now.

Were you watching the same game I was watching? Coles does not pass protect, he did make some tough catches yesterday. He also turned 5 yards into 10 yards when he touched the ball. Finally, Gardener started making some catches. I think at some point Taylor wil supplant Rod and the 2nd receiver. McCants is a perfect 3rd.

Smilack---my issue is not Coles getting catches. The guy had 6 catches, that ios great. I am in no way blaming Laveranues Coles. My point is, this guy can be a devasting play maker, a game wrecker, a game winner, yet, the past three weeks we seem to be settling for just little screens to him, no shots, nothing.

P.S. Why aren't we taking long shot to Coles? Ramsey can't throw the ball on his back, if he could we would be undefeated.

PennsFan. I hear ya'. I'm frustrated too. The opponents pass rush is dictating what we try to do. Imagine if Ramsey could have a chance to see the entire field 5-6 times a game? That's what we did against the Jets, they sat back on us. Coles and Ramsey tore the Jets up in the first half. You know what happened in the 2nd half. We'll get there. Just think, the more this team endures now the better we'll be later on, I hope.

See smilack the can't throw from his back comment doesn't make sense with what we want here. I understand what you are saying, but There are times in the game when Coles is one-on-one with his reciever. Ramsey should see that and audible into a three step drop. By the time Ramsey takes three steps, 7 times out of 10, Coles will be behind his reciever. Then Rams throws it 10-15 yards in front of Coles, and coles catches it on the fly for 65 yards. It's simple, yet I've not seen it tried yet.

Would you want to 3 step drop on this O'line? I wouldn't. How much time do you think you have on a 3 step drop? At most, 3 seconds. Can Coles get 30-35 yards up firld in three seconds? If he could, again, we would be undefeated. I agree the 3 step drop is actually a good "defense" against a blitz but when Simeon Rice is coming on the end, and it only takes him 2-3 seconds to rip Rams head off, it just doesn't work. Our line must protect our QB. What happens when they show blitz, Rams audibles in to a 3 step, but the defense sits back on the snap?

I agree Penn.... The two times we went deep we threw to Gardner..

Its not the OLine. Come on, look at the reality. We have Royal abd Betts blocking Rice????????? We have five on the Line blocking seven????????? It is the scheme, and so far Steve Spurrier is not willing to change that. YES, some sacks were Ram's fault, i don't discount that. But this scheme is gonna kill him. Week to week, Spurrier syas we need to rptoiect Ramsey, we need to do a better jhob, but yet, what adjustments have been made to do that????? Nothing!

a three step drop and a release gives him plenty of time to get back and get rid of the ball. The only thing coles has to do is get behind his defender before Ramsey thows the ball. He doesn't have to get 30-35 yards down field. They just need to throw to him in the open field. Trust me, I know it can be done. I've seen many teams do it. Ramsey just has to lead Coles, and Coles will grab it on the fly and be gone. Yes, Ramsey usually has time to do a three step drop. It's when he holds the ball that he gets sacked. I'm saying three steps back pump once and throw the ball. It CAN work. They just have to do it.
Plus, they won't sit back on the blitz, no one has done it yet, but if they do it'll give him time if he sees no blitz coming. He's a good QB. He can do that.

You can't do that against a Cover 2 unless the defense obviously shows blitz beforehand. Even then, it depends on which side the safety is coming up on. Trust me, it's not as easy as simply seeing a corner playing up on Coles and audibling to a three-step fade to him. That'll get picked nine times out of ten.

Teams are gearing up for Coles now guys and looking to take him out of the game. The Bucs had Rhonde Barber on him the entire game. The first few weeks of the season teams were still overlooking him and what he could do. Now the secreat is out and those 1 on 1 sitituations he had before won't be there.

That always happens to the best, Shaggy. Moss, Owens, Harrison... they get that treatment. I still believe Coles can have an incredible season if we get Ramsey more protection. That's the key.

We need Gardener to step up more. He's quietly becoming a disappointment. He should be all over the place w/ double coverage on Coles and quite frankly he's not.

Every team we face is gonna come all out against us. If you noticed, most teams are playing cover 2 while sending a linebacker or 2 at RAM. with the plays SS is calling, not enough time to throw the ball to Coles. you have to give tampa credit for shutting us down in the second half.

I would like to see a ball controlled offense. I think that is the key. We've got to keep these defenses honest. We need to keep Ladell and Trung busy in each series. What happened to challening the outside of a defense when it blitzes? Ramsey does hold the ball sometimes but the league leading sacks on this offense is the O'lines' fault. This would include TE and backs. WHen you double team Rice and he still gets through, come on!

I would like to see more quick hitters over the middle for one thing. THAT would work against a team that blitzes alot. Also a few passes to the flat and here is something novel, ROLL OUT. I know - it's NOT in the SS offense BUT hey it's worth a try. Seem to work REAL well for Tampa.

Gardner finally had the type of game he's capable of. Let's not forget he had a 1000 yard season as our number 1 WR with a QB mess. That's what's so mind boggling about the fact that ge isn't doing much but maybe he woke up.
