According to the Times, OG Dave Fiore may need surgery to play again, and if that is the case, he will not play the rest of the year. Looks like drafting Derrick Dockery was a great idea. Even if the kid struggles, he will be getting pretty much a full season in the system, learning first hand.

Here is the quote from the Times:

"Spurrier said left guard Dave Fiore is "very questionable" with knee soreness that has sidelined him the past three games. There is growing concern in the organization that Fiore might not return, but he said Sunday night he is determined to keep trying. For now, he has ruled out surgery because a major procedure would end his season and a minor one might not produce results"

Bad news, especially if another guy goes down for a few games as is always the case with the big boys. Could go from what looked like a stone wall prior to the season to a makeshift catastrophe down the stretch especially considering how suspect Samuels play has been. Anybody have any good news to report this week?

IF that is the case, wouldn't it be better to get it done than TRYING to go on it. Man, if he plays and screws it up worse, then we be talking career. At this point, I rather have him get it right and return strong next year.

Well, fortuantely, if we get the schemes, and by right schemes, i do not mean Betts or a TE blocking a caliber DE liek Rice, but the RIGHT schemes will good protection, depth on the Line is decent with Lennie Friedman on the bench.

Tough news, but that's more PT for Dockery. Not much depth left, though.

Yeah, what alot of us thought was a strength to this team is quickly turning into a weakness.

not good news at all. good thing for all the versitility (sp?) on the line. i though they just wanted to clean fiore's knee out and let him rest it for the next few weeks??

I heard Tre Johnson was camped out at the Taco Bell in Ashburn waiting for Vinny to pick him up in a golf cart and take him to practice.....

Must be one of those 4 seaters. Does it have flashing lights and a wide load sign attached?

the O line was bad with him in it. and much of the pressure comes because of the tackles samuels and jansen.

I saw Fiore coming out of the locker room Sunday, and his limp was very noticable. It was so noticable that I wondered why did it take as long as it did for them to say that he wouldn't be ready for the Bucs.

I miss the old Tre, though. Tre Johnson of 1999 was a beast worthy of the Hogs. I loved watching linebackers bounce off him like fleas.

We all miss him, Spence.

Depth is scaring me now.

Damn, im starting to get worried this is the beginning of the end, we still have talent, but we gotta start putting it together, dockery is solid tho.

remember, it is not the oLine that is sucking it up completely guys, it is bad blocking scheme and missed blocks by backs and Tes. The Spurrier system is not designed for maximum protection, and teams know that and are blitzing the hell out of it. If we go into max protection like Spurrier says, and the Bills bring the blitzes, the Bills could be in for a rough day.

PSF - Not sure I agree with that - Unless it's a WC offense, a effective North/South passing game requires maximum protection.
