What if the Redskins started out against the Bills using the no huddle? Start with quick screens to the backs and the recievers and quick slants and some draw plays. What would that do for the Bills blitzing game plan (everyone will blitz us until we can show we can burn them because of it). Would this help? If not, what kind of game plan can we come up with to negate the blitzes we face each game?
Dude, our players can hardly remember the plays 15 seconds after they hear it. Think of all the mistakes!! They would need to work on that. I think that it might take a little longer than one week. Good idea though.

I think the Redskins had a good game plan against Tampa (1st half that is). We need quick hitting plays that simulate runs. Use misdirection and use the WR screen until they stop it. Last season we used Bryan Johnson on quick hitters, get him back involved in the passing game. Go on some quick counts at the line. Let Ramsey go to the line and have the ball hiked on the first sound (should minimalize false starts). Stretch the field on occassion to keep the defense honest. We don't do a good job of creating mismatches. We need to do that more which involved more game tape review. Those are just some of my thoughts.
I just realized my game plan is that of the west coast. Oh well.

I didn't see that game Lady. Maybe the Bills aren't as good as some people thought they would be.

It just seems to me that in the last couple of minutes of a game, like against the Giants or the Eagles the Skins were unstopable. Weren't they using the no huddle during some of those comebacks?

IMHO the problem w/ the quick hits though is Ramsey. Once they check down to a cover 2 to adjust like the bucs did they take away the quick outs then Ramsey holds on to the ball and makes mistakes.
Quick hits mean 3 step drops, once the lanes are covered Ramsey should just get rid of it. Instead he'll look down field for something else and expose us to a sack or an incomplete throw where he's hit as he's releasing.
We have to prove we can beat you different ways to keep them guessing. If we go to many quick hits all they have to do is go to a cover 2. We have to show a successful adjustment to counter.

Then you hit them with flare outs. Establishing the run is important too. You establish the run and they have to bring in support to help stop it. Play action then comes into to play. It starts with running the ball.

Well, the Skins were facing a prevent defense against Philadelphia. We ran our normal offense against the Giants, though there was more passing. You cannot judge an offense by what it does at the end of the game when the defense is willing to trade yards and points for time.

The no huddle wouldn't work in Spurriers system. The whole design of the offense is to see the defenders read them and check to a better play. Ramsey hasn't shown enough experience yet in his check offs to be able to operate quick enough and effective enough in that type of sitituation.

Forget It!! SS is to much of a CONTROL FREAK with his offence. He HAS to call all the plays. To run the no huddle any more than absolutely neccessary would cause SS to go NUTS!

Well, it is possible to run a no-huddle offense and still have the coach call the plays. You just don't go hurry-up. There is a difference between a hurry-up offense and a no-huddle offense. In the no-huddle offense, the offense merely does not huddle, but coaches can still send in plays with hand signals. What it means is that the offense will not substitute and that means the defense cannot substitute either. With the hurry-up, the players just run to the line as fast as they can, snap the ball as fast as they can, and kill the clock whenever they can.
The Buffalo Bills often ran a no-huddle offense in the early-to-mid 1990s, but it was usually not a hurry-up offense. Some of the time the plays were called by Jim Kelly and some of the time the plays were called by Ted Marchibroda. The Redskins could run a no-huddle and still have Spurrier call the plays.

I would pretty much expect twice as many false starts if they went no huddle alot.

No huddle = poor performance.
This team, as it is now, has not shown me they can handle the finesse needed to run the no huddle. Hand signs, check offs, first sound snap, etc..........Not IMHO!

How about the option? Ramsey's got the wheels, and is used to the hit anyways...lol
