An insurance agency (http://blogs.kansas.com/gov/2010/10/31/flashing-sign-is-latest-flashpoint-in-4th-district-race/) which supports a white guy (named Pompeo) running for Congress against this guy:

. . . put up this ad:

Eh. Gotta admit this one doesn't push my buttons too much. Candidates from both parties wrap themselves in the flag all the time ("I'm reporting for duty"), and the ads didn't reference the other candidate. Plus "Pompeo" sounds no more American to me than "Goyle" anyway.

I guess you're right. It's almost impossible do distinguish between a couple of apple pie names like 'Mike' and 'Raj,' so there probably aren't any undertones of racism here. Certainly not in a state as open-minded as Kansas.
They're doppelgangers, really.

Don't knock Kansas until you've tried it. Are there undertones of racism? Maybe. But it's not like this is the Willie Horton ad or something. I've seen much worse, including in this election cycle. I'm not going to get worried about this when John Boener is out campaigning with an SS reenacter.

I'm thinking of a new slogan: "Kansas: Come for the evolution hearings, stay for the Westboro Baptist Church."
