Figured some folks might have an opinion on this (http://twitter.com/#!/MrMichaelLee/status/5355606663757824). He's been at the paper for quite some time.

I will really miss his hatred for the teams in the city that has made him very wealthy.

This isnt really news. He writes for the post every what, 2 weeks? He's not a journalist anymore, he's a talking head.

The Post can unload his fat self and salary, probably hire 2 or 3 cub journalists with the savings. Good for the Post.

Honestly, he's ready for the move. He probably burned out on sports writing a few years back.

Nah, they'll just hire one Mike Wise and then further beat on Danny for *his* crappy FA acquisitions lol.

In this day and age the unload part isn't often followed by the word "hire."

"Do more with less," is the modern newspaper motto.

I would like for them to commit to another Wilbon caliber columnist who writes frequently. That or just get a complete Puck head to come in and write Caps articles that aren't game summaries.

Chances are....they'll hire a new blogger or pocket the money.

I think we're still quite a ways from seeing a old-school paper like the Post hiring a blogger.

And I've actually really enjoyed the Post's Caps coverage the past few years. TEB was active with Twitter, on Post.com and would film post-game videos after most of the games. There was a constant stream of info and insight when he was on the beat.

It's too early to tell whether this new girl will be as good. So far I'm not super-impressed.

Wilbum is still a class a douchebag. He grew up a douchebag, embraced it, claimed it, loved being it and refused to divorce himself from it.

Funny how I already associate Wilbon more with ESPN (PTI) than I do the Post.

Does this mean he will be brought into ESPN's MNF pre-game festivities?

I'm purely guessing here, but I think you'll see him do a lot more with the ESPN/ABC's coverage of the NBA. That seems to be more his area of expertise.

Disney has quite a stable of NFL guys already.

I feel the same way. TEB was waaay more than anyone could ask for in a beat writer. He was incredibly active and attentive.

Here is Wilbon's farewell column. Based on the comments in this thread you've all been counting the seconds until you could read him just one last time, lol.
