I know most of the guys on this site go to a lot of the games and are around the team a lot more then myself so maybe you can answer this question. Lavar is the locker room leader right? Is he completely out of control or does he listen to the coaches and try to implement the game plan? Cause if he is the leader and he is undermining the coaching staff then the whole team is going to follow his lead. Please don't rip me, just wondering if he might be a locker room cancer.

No, Lavar is definitely not a locker room cancer. Locker room bigmouth might be a better description of him. As far as I know, Lavar gets along well with his teammates and he gets along very well [too well, perhaps] with his defensive coordinator.

I don't know how much I buy into this "Lavar is a leader" stuff. He loves to talk and is pretty well-spoken so reporters love him. He is quoted constantly in the papers and the electronic media. That doesn't make him a leader, though, it just makes him a media darling.

I'd rather like to know what Lavar's teammates really think of him. I'm sure they do not dislike him. I'll bet most of them like him, actually. But I just wonder if they think he spends too much time in front of microphones.

So who is the leader of this team? Maybe that is one of our problems. Do we have a leader?

When D. Green retired last year, he mentioned on the radio that he passed his leadership torch on to Samuels. He said he was the best fit person for that role. I'm not sure if Samuels has done anything about it...

Apparently Armstead and Bruce Smith have been the guys who are most vocal in the locker room. I'm sure Lavar is a leader of some sort...but he is more of the "face" of the Redsksins, than the leader.

I think Ramsey has all of the capable talents to become a leader for this team down the road in the seasons to come.

I agree that Arrington is the face of the Redskins but not the leader. I'm not sure who the leader is. We hear about Armstead and Smith talking in the locker room. I heard that the players really like Arrington as a player and a person. That doesn't answer Spence's question though. It seems we have alot of silent leaders and no Ray Lewis type that fires the entire team up.

he is the "emotional" leader.....

Probably Armstead and Smith, though I'm not entirely sure I'd count Coles out. The guy's got the best attitude I've ever seen, and is constantly pushing himself to do better. It must rub off on his teammates somewhat.

I would choose Arrington and Coles as the leaders of this team. I get sick of hearing about how Bruce Smith is an emotional leader and this and that. Bruce Smith couldn't lead turds into a toilet.

What's being a leader? In my opinion, it's going out there, and giving it your all every week, and every practice --- leading by example. If Bruce Smith thinks that all because he's old and washed out and runs his mouth every once in a while that he's a leader ... he's mistaken. I'll take the guys who don't conveniently fake injuries at training camp every year and who don't think they're exempt from hard work because of their past accomplishments. Every week the TV announcers kiss Bruce Smith's ass and talk about how good he is at his age. 1.5 sacks and I have to hear about how great he is every week? I can't wait till this guy's off the team.

I consider Lavar more the personality of the team and that's referring to the attention he gets from the media. As for the team leader, I believe Lavar want to be but hasn't matured enough yet (he's close though). ........ I feel that role should really be assumed by Armstead more than anyone else at this point. And regardless what anyone thinks, Bruce Smith is a leader (not saying he's the Skins leader) - I'd go to war with him any day. (Us old guy got to stick together - lol)

I want Trotter to have more fire. His facial expression never changes. Middle linebackers need to be angry.

a leader needs to be someone who can set and example and will fight for his team. then again, its hard to have a leader in the locker room if none of our coaches are leaders.

Well, I agree with whoever said that Lavar is the face of this team. BUT, since we are all tryign to decide who the lkeader is, that means we do not know, that means there IS NOT one. Most other NFL teams, if they have veteran leadership, fans can tell you who those leaders are. The very fact that we are here in this thread throwing around names of who we THINK are the leaders, leads me to believe that BBall is on to something and that maybe one of the problems here is that no player has truly stepped up to leadership. Yes, many players have respect from teammates. Yes, many players serve a purpose from time to time, liek Bruce did on the sideline, firing people up, but from game to game, week to week, i think this team lacks a leader.

Bruce Smith is a leader? He is no mor than a cheerleader.. He waves his hands around trying to hype up the crowd... Maybe he should realize that if he made a play or two the crowd would make some noise...

I'm hoping that Ramsey turns into the leader of this team through his toughness and play on the field. That will bode well for the SKins.
