Accident or not, why did he have a gun?

Heard the school is a gangs nest and the thug brought a gun inside his backpack, and gun went off when he dropped said backpack.

According to the local news this kind of violence has happened before in 2002. Nothing really new to the area, not exactly the garden of Eden.

Sounds like even now they aren't 100 percent sure how the gun went off.

A girl ended up shot in the head and had surgery today to treat a skull fracture and brain trauma. A boy was shot in the neck and is stable.

Police think it's possible both were hit by the same bullet.

Now they're saying the school didn't follow policy with random checks. Simply horrible.

My public high school (late 70's) down here had a rifle club that had its own page in the yearbook. Man, that was a long time ago.

Also in the local news (tv) the High School claimed to have metal detectors, which was quickly disputed in on-camera interviews with a couple students that attend the school.
