We can be the same way, but first we have to let the "win now" philosophy go and resist trying to trade up using next years picks. The only position worth that is QB IMO. Lord help Shanahan if he gets it wrong though.

I think the only reason why they would even conceivably give up that much is that they're entering an era they haven't been in a long time. They have to win now because the Brady era is coming to a close. Much like how the Manning era is soon to end. I think they would possibly move up to get some really good talent to repair their defense, and bank on Brady for the next 2-3 years.

Carolina might ruin newton by starting him immediately. Whether he succeeds or not, they are going to sell a lot of tickets for a couple years. If there is a rookie wage scale it is really a win win situation.
