Pretty crazy stuff. Hope he's returned unharmed and soon.
Stunning and frightening news has come from Venezuela on Wednesday, where reports say Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos was kidnapped by four armed men from his mother's home. The Nationals have not commented yet, but the news was confirmed on Twitter by his winter league team, The Tigres de Aragua. Bizarrely, their Twitter feed now contains updates of the Tigres game being played today.

I remembering reading an article about how kidnappings were very common in Venezuela. Hopefully he gets out of this situation safely.

this is not the 1st time this has happened to mlb players from that area, one wonders why they just don't move their families to the usa or better neighborhoods? at the very least, why not hire bodyguards?

Imigration laws prevent them from moving their families to USA. Most players are here on a work visa.

You gotta remember that Ramos is still a young guy and doesn't make big money (by MLB standards). I doubt he can afford the fortress-type home you need to be really safe in that country.

Ramos has been rescued. Thank goodness.
