OK, I didn't get the see the game...the first game I've missed since 97 thanks to me being detained in the hospital (it was just a flesh wound) ;)
Going by the stats, we appeared to have sucked as bad as our worst nightmares. Having Betts only getting 11 yards on 8 carries must have been awful to watch. We need Canidate back!
What's the deal with Ramsey? Only 9 for 26????

It appears according to the stats that every aspect of our team sucked. Including the coaching...is this true?

Yes, go back and read the game thread then read the other threads that have been created. It was by far a terrible, terrible performance from them. By the way, Ramsey was hit and taken out of the game in the 4th with a bruise to his throwing hand. Should be okay for Dallas though.

First of all - I hope you're all right! Missing a Redskin game, hospital, flesh wound - does not add up unless it was serious.

To sum up the game - worse played Skins game in 45 years! Chad Morton was the only bright spot (and that was dim too).

Betts has a smalll fracture in his elbow I believe. They say it's not real bad.

Gotta say, I'm glad I missed it. I would be a bear of mood today going by how bad we played.

Don't worry, there's enough of us already venting from this one.

Well, the flesh wound comment was from Monte Python.
It was actually a serious issue.
*warning to all those with weak stomachs not to read on*

I was trying to get stuff done around the house since the game was on later. First I need to say, I haven't been spending a whole lot of time with my dog, so she was hanging around, and normally she just sits there and watches me, or does a "lookout" thing. She was sitting there enjoying sitting next to me while I was cutting wood with my table saw in the garage. Well, I guess she saw a moth or something. She jumped up and knocked into me, which made me "slip". I didn't think anything of it at first sicne I didn't feel anything. Then I saw a pool of blood, and my arm got warm. I looked down and my finger was hanging off. Held on by only a tiny bit of flesh and skin. I cut it clear through the bone.
Well, being a licensed (but not practicing) EMT I knewexactly what to do. I did a temp turnaquit (sp?) around my wrist (I wouldhave done the finger, but it's hard doing it with one hand), then I applied pressure with a clean cloth. (pushing hte finger back where it needed to be.) I walked inside the house and told my wife to relax, I cut my finger a little, It "MIGHT" require stitches, but I need to go to the ER just to make sure it's not infected. She was relaxed, and I drove myself (the hospital is only 1 mile away). It wasn't until we had to call the Dr. Verch (bone doctor) that she thought something was up. But I got it stitched up and artery reattached etc. It looks fine. The only thing I need to worry about it infection.
Like I was saying...it's just a flesh wound! :D

Mark Maske just reported that it is a fracture...and that he will most likely miss "a few games" becuase of it.

Betts fractured his arm when someone tackled him...and the defenseman's helmet made contact with his arm. Betts said he didn't know it was fractured...and continued to take several snaps before getting benched.

He did pretty poorly before leaving the game. Sometimes it was his fault...but many times, the O-line let defenders in our backfield as the handoff was made.

DAMN jsarno, that is serious. I glad you kept a level head. As one who has his own woodworking shop, I know exactly how dangerous those situation can be. Wives, kids, and animals - greatest distractions there. Once again, glad you're alright. Take good care of that finger!!!

JSarno,
Be well and take care of yourself. We don't need to loose good fans!
Heal up quick!

:lol1:
Thanks for the kind words guys...and Texkin, I'll have to cut my hand off if we lose to Dallas! :D

Actually, it's ok, it's only my index finger on my right hand. (I'm a lefty).
It's easy to keep a level head with the training I've had, and the fact that before I turned 21 I broke 52 (35 different) bones in my body (that number is misleading because I broke every bone in my hand on one injury...there are alot of bones in there...there was another injury that I broke numerous bones as well...so it wasn't like I was breaking bones left and right). I'm used to injuries. I was VERY accident prone in my childhood, but have had no problems since. (until yesterday)

I was looking at buying a new 2004 grand prix and I was decked out in redskins apparrel, and I got sympathy today...I hate that. I'm a fan whether we win or lose...but getting beat by buffalo that badly got me an extra $100 of the car. :D

I'd love to see Canidate for just one game be the primary back and get 15-20 carries...I want to see what he can do.

so does this injury count as a broken bone for me? Technically I didn't "break it"...I sawed it! hahaha

Jsarno you are very lucky you didn't end up....... watching this game is all I can say it was bad. Betts was slow to get to the line and Morton's speed seemed affective the little while he was in.

You guy's really thought that loss topped any of those 5 losses we had w/ Marty?

Patrick
10-21-2003, 06:06 AM
jsarno - a cut is a cut no matter how deep. NO breaks my friend!

Emmanouel8 - For me, that was the worse effort put forth by a Redskin team that I have seen for many, many years. The loss itself could be meaningful IF the players and coaches look at how bad they performed and are able to turn it around. If they don't, it becomes one of the worse games in 45 years but IF they do, they it could turn out to the one of the best losses this team has had in a while. - If you know what I mean!!

that's what I'm gathering. Like I said...I'm glad I didn't get to see it.

I am looking forward to a healthy canidate vs the cowpatties after the bye. He should get a bunch of carries.

So were there ANY bright spots at all? Arrington? Armstead? ANYTHING?

Patrick

Chad Morton - ran the ball well and average over 5 yds/carry.

Bright spots: Armstead, R.Thomas, Morton

Jsarno, wow, good luck with your recovery. Will full feeling most likely be restored to your finger after the heeling process?

Morton averaged 5 but only had 7 carries. I think Darryl Talley and Marv Levy were still on the field against the Skins at the start of the second half to allow that. The whole game was a disaster. Henry's last TD run through Bowen and Frantz invoked dry heaves for all Skins backers. Ugly.

Mercy, I can't leave you boys for a minute can I?

Sorry about your finger there jsarno, glad you're handling it well. I was thinking about Beuerlein's dislocated finger when you were discribing your injury. Did you see it? Gross!

I didn't have the "pleasure" of seeing the game either, probably better this way, I can stay happily married to my Buffalo loving hubbo...

I'm sure it will. It's not numb at all. There is dull pain throughout the finger even right now. The doctor said that it's possible to never have feeling again...but since I took care of it like I did, and "put the finger back together as soon as possible" the nerve endings didn't have time to die. If they were "ripped" apart I'd be in worse shape. But since they were severed and put back together quickly, I saved the feeling. I should have a 100% recovery. My only concern at this point is infection.

Yeah...I laughed while my wife cringed. Those kinds of injuries are not uncommon. I kept calling him a "pussy" for not returning the game after they taped his fingers together.
Hey, If I can score 4 goals and 2 assists playing hockey on a broken ankle (high school) that schmuck can throw a pass with a meezly dislocated finger!
IT'S FOOTBALL, NOT TIDDLY WINKS! (or baseball)

My wife is Broncos fan...and I did get to watch some of that game since it was the early game.
AT least he's not a cowboy fan...that's grounds for divorce!

Yes, by what these guys are saying, we are the lucky ones!
