I think Joe Bugel can help out the o-line, hell we have the players. As far as the defense, unless some new pass rushing d-linemen are added the defense will continue to struggle, maybe not as bad though.

I really don't think you can coach that defensive line to overachieve. It's the worst line in the league talentwise IMO. Travis Henry has an 'S' tatooed across his chest and his jersey is heading to Canton. Travis Henry folks!
On the other hand the oline may improve w/ better coaching b/c we have the personnel to do so. Go Bugel!

Excellent poll question but can't answer. It really depends on how receptive SS is to advise. Then again SS is a golfer, and if he treats football like golf, you take all the advise he can to improve his game!!!

I think Joe Bugel will help. He will devise good blocking schemes, correct bad habits, and correct mistakes.
Fazio. There is not a defensive problem. The defensive problem is clear. The talent on the DLine is not very good. Lbs are not being kept in psoition. The only correction they can make is to keep the LBs on assigment.

Skinzaholic Bill Arnsperger helped out a few years back w/ adjustments as a consultant. I think this will turn out the same way for the offense but not the defense, but I understand how you can be pessimistic just keep in mind it worked for us once.

Yes I think they'll help. They are both two highly respected experienced guys. Hell they can't make it any worse then its already been.

Bugel will help on offense if Spurrier is willing to let him listen to what he has to say. Bugel builds first-rate offensive lines everywhere he goes. It's what he does. The team needs to emphasize some power football and get back to running it because one thing I've noticed is that when you run the ball, your quarterback never gets sacked.

According to redskins.com, Bugel only agreed to watch film and give advise. Not perform any kind of coaching duties like devising skemes and minimizing mistakes. To me, it all depends on how receptive SS is to his advise. I don't know what they're going to do on defense.

To piggyback on this...ESPN is reporting that Bugel is "already gone" from Redskins park...and only "gave advice" for 5 hours!

Turns out that the consulting work done by Joe Bugel and Foge Fazio for the slumping Washington Redskins, the initial report termed "overstated" by one team official, was just a one-day gig spent analyzing videotape Tuesday and submitting suggestions. "Foge spent maybe five hours here [at the team's complex] and he is gone already," Redskins vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato told ESPN.com. "Joe Bugel came in this morning, is watching film, and is out of here by evening.
Hey DJ, Bugel stayed more than 30 minutes. Does that mean SS is the sucker?

I really like the hiring of Bugel and I believe Spurrier will be receptive.

They are cosmetic moves, pure and simple. They have nothing to do with gamplanning, motivation or accountability.

well, they are one day hires, supposedly no fee attached, to watch games tapes for ten hours, then submit a written report on what they view as wrong and need of fixing. What does that really do?

It helps Snyder look smart when he's screaming for bloody protection.
I w/draw my vote for this helping anything now. Bugel in an Arnsparger role would have been huge, oh well.

Sure...I wish they were going to stick around for a few weeks and help "coach up" our O-line. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. However, I'd prefer to have them in for 5 hours rather than NO hours.
