Are the Chiefs the best team in the NFL?

If not, then who is?

vikings are playing better right now anyway

Vikes are a better team overall. The Chiefs have snuck away with a few wins they very easily could have lost like Baltimore and Oakland.

Right now? YES.

They have the most dangerous kick return team I have ever seen.

They have one of the best running backs in the league in Priest Holmes.

Their Defense has greatly upgraded since last year.

Trent Green continues to put points on the board. He may not be flashy like Vick or McNabb...but the last 5-6 superbowls have been won by non-flashy QBs. Trent Green fits the mold.

The defense is 27th in the league??? How is it greatly upgraded???

Gotta go with the Vikes too, but it's real close. Also, yes, their defense is very improved. Stats don't tell the whole story.

Lol...they were 32nd out of 32 last year. But simply looking at "yardage" doesn't do the Chiefs justice.

They have jumped to 7th in the league in defending the 3rd down., compared to a 25th ranking last year.

They have jumped to 13th in the league in defending the 4th down, compared to 24th last year.

Last year, they had only 18 total Interceptions. They already have 13 in 7 games.

Last year, they gave up an average of 24.9 points. This year, they are only giving up 17.9 points.

So I think its safe to say that the Chiefs have improved "greatly" on defense, if they are MUCH better at not allowing 1st downs on 3rd and 4th down attemps, getting more interceptions and allowing less points. All of these stats allow their high-powered offense more opportunities to get on the field.

I gotta go with Chiefs. The Vikings have had a fairly pansy schedule. Green Bay and SF were in disarray when they faced Minnesota. Denver was missing Plummer (we all seem to think Buerlien blows, but those are the only good teams they faced)...the other teams are Chicago, Detroit, and Atlanta.
KC has had to face Pitt, Balt., Denver, at GB (when Green Bay was playing well) and at Oakland (both places are tough to win at. 4 of their 7 wins have been courtesy of the road. San Diego and Houston are thier only cake walks to this point.
Their offense seems to score at will...their defense does a very good job, and their special teams is best in the league.
I give KC the nod.

I said yes, but I am surprised no one mentioned carolina. Remember, Offense attracts a crowd, but defense wins championships.

jsarno

Carolina's defense is not that great statistically. They got BLOWN away by Tennessee, and minus TB and INDY, they have faced opponants with a 5-15 record. Not too impressive.
They are in the bottom of the league in just about everything. I give Carolina my "overrated team of the year" to this point award.

If this (http://www.hailredskins.com/hailPowerpoll03.htm) says the Chiefs are the best then the Chiefs are the best.

It's week 6 for God's sake. How many teams do you think they faced overallL?

I did say "to this point".

But you also said "aside from Indy and Tampa." Almost half of their wins came against solid teams.

40%, which means, that 60% came from bum teams.

That's the closest you can get to 50% in 5 wins.

they barely beat the Saints..but a win is a win...its better that what we're doing!

Wow, the Chiefs have to be the favorite to win it all. To go 8-0 as equal as all teams have become is amazing. Holmes is awesome. I have him in both my fantasy league and thank goodness I do

A 38-5 destruction of Buffalo (who handed us our lunch last week mind you) is proof enough for me.

Buffalo is no doormat. They are a solid team. The Chiefs are the undisputed best team in the league.

I don't think that there is any question that the Chiefs are the kings of the league right now.

Maybe. Something about the Vikings still makes me think that they'd have a very good chance if they played the Chiefs. I'm not sure what it is.

Yes, even after Sunday. Call me wacky. It's just a hunch. I can't really base it on anything.

We shall see in Week 15.

jsarno

week 15 might not even tell the story. If the chiefs are 13-1 and clinched the west come week 15, do you think they will care about the vikings?
Week 15 is waaaay too far off at this point. Gotta see how things transpire in these coming weeks.

My preseason pick for the superbowl (as some of you may recall) was the Chiefs, and they have done NOTHING to sway my opinion.

My preseason pick was the Titans. I'll stick with them, too.

I don't trust Eddie George. Any team that has it's premier runner getting 2 yards a carry isn't going to go anywhere. Luckily the coaching staff has picked up on this and they do more passing plays.
They will definitely be there when the playoffs start, I just don't see them getting past the cream of the crop.

McNair's running skills make up for George's shortcomings.

Put down 9-0 after Sunday, although I did take the Browns and the 9.5 points coming with them!

You should never announce your picks. I did that once.

jsarno
11-06-2003, 11:10 AM
Yes, it will be 9-0...then they face Cincy (@ cincy) 10-0, then at home vs Oakland 11-0, then @ San Diego 12-0. Then they face a tough opponant @ Denver!!! They round out the season with Detriot, @Minn, and Chicago. It's possible for them to go undefeated, but I think I'd put some money on a 14-2 record. 13-3 at WORST.

Back to the Chiefs. I am now thinking that the Titans are the best team in the AFC. I would pick them in the playoffs.

I see KC going 14-2 in the end. They're coming to play down at Mile High baby, and with Jake the Snake back at the saddle I don't expect the Broncos to let me down this time.

They also face the Vikings at home, which is going to be another tough game for them. 13-3 at worst.

The Broncos will truely be thier challenge, but I think that vermeil is a better coach than Shannahan, so his "corrections" should beat those of the Broncos. It should be one hell of a game though!!! I know that I'll watch it.

If the Chiefs get by the Broncos, and don't sit their players, I can see a 16-0 season. The Vikings are tough, but they seem to be falling, and allowed over 40 points to a struggling offense in San Diego.
Again...the real challenge is Denver.

The ego on you! I made my picks long before you said that. Besides, I killed myself by gloating before the Monday night game. I would have been alone at the top for this week had I kept my mouth shut. I didn't think that many 'Skins fans would pick the Eagles.
