We both stink so I hate to bring this up but it looks like the Jets may have made the right move. We now have another star WR and a future star DT instead of a star WR in Coles which would have inhibited Moss' progress.

Let's look at the #s:

Moss '03 38 recs, 580 yards, 15.3 avg, 7 TDs
Coles '02 38 recs, 466 yards, 12.2 avg, 2 TDs

Moss '03 38 recs, 580 yds, 15. 3 avg, 7 TDs
Coles '03 46 recs, 658 yds, 14.3 avg, 2 TDs

Since Coles incredible start Moss has continued to gain on him and has a HUGE edge in TDs. Now w/ Chad back he will only get better, last week was Chad's first start and Moss torched the Giants- a sign of things to come.

Like I said a long time agao, I wanted him back but I thought this was a deal that would work out for both teams and it looks like I'm right. I expected Santana to step up but not to this extent. he has essentially replaced Coles by himself, actually he is even better than Coles was last year b/c he is much more of a HR threat.

By the way:

Bates has easily replaced Morton
Brent Smith has done a good job to replace Thomas
Brien has been good but we miss Hall's stronger leg.

Looks like both teams won w/ the offseason moves and it's not as one sided as it appeared early in the year. We saved money and replaced thoese players and you guys upgraded your talent.

I'm not crowing about your stumblings as we stink too but had we not been so injury plagued we would be much better. Hopefully we have a quiet offseason and we'll once again be SB contenders next year w/ good health.
Good luck the rest of the year and beyond.

Keep your fingers crossed NYJunc...............
Chad Pennington did look good in your loss to the Giants....
We'll keep our fingers crossed and hope that Patrick Ramsey gets the protection needed to throw the damn ball to Mr. Coles ! ;)

I'll agree with everything but the fact that Brent Smith? has replaced Randy Thomas. The Jets O-line has done almost as bad a job run blocking as the Redskins. Almost...

Do those numbers account for a QB that hasn't had time to throw the ball to Coles?

I still think Coles is better, SS just doesn't have his Shi* together right now to give Ramsey enough time to get Coles the ball. Just about any DB in the league can jam and cover for 5 yards which is about how long the patterns are on a 3 step drop.

If Ramsey had enough time for 5 and 7 step drops where he could step up in the pocket, there is no doubt in my mind that Coles would be killing Moss. Pennington has nowhere near the arm strength that Ramsey has and therefore can make fewer throws.

Actually our OL stunk(runblockig wise) early in the year but our ground game is working really well now(Curtis is back on pace for well over 1,000 yds) and the pass blocking has been very good all year.

Do those numbers account for a QB that hasn't had time to throw the ball to Coles?

I understand that and my point is not to take away from LC but to give credit to Moss. He has been outstanding and I'm surprised he's playing this well this quick(this is only his 2nd full yr), it's the other WRs(Conway & Chrebet) who have been disappointing or else our O would be great right now.

What has happened to your OL? I know you had some injuries, is it all on the injuries or have some players underperformed?

Chris Samuels and Derrick Dockery are playing horribly. Jon Jansen isn't at his normal level, either. Our center's never been very good.

Joe, as usual, is right NYJunc in his evaluation of players...
Injuries and underfperformance contribute. And if you ask some on this board they'll tell you the coaching scheme sucks!
