I said before i thought he was another bad first pick of ours. now what do you guys think will he ever be effective. he already new the offense so what excuses does he have. he recovered from his injury now so what is his problem. was he another bad first pick form the draft? dint like the pick then. and hate the wasted pick now

Although he was our first pick, he was drafted in the second round. He's also been hurt and in most games Ramsey had no protection to get him the ball. It's way too early to make a call on him.

I think Jacobs will be fine. He made a great touchdown catch a few weeks ago. I think his problem is that he's not good enough to get on the field yet because the guys ahead of him are playing well and the Redskins cannot afford to go with any 4-wide sets because of pass protection problems. I still have plenty of confidence in Jacobs.

How about the poor play of the offensive line, the lack of the running game and the small number of times he steps on the field? Do any of those factors effect his numbers?

I'd like to see more of him. The TD catch he had against Dallas was awesome.

the td was beautiful but be honest. what about the drop 2 plays before that. we should run more and i think trung is a waste also. the rock, johnson, and chad should be our backs.we souldnt have gotten rid of watson either we should have dropped betts

the scheme we run doesnt help but he should be competing for the 3rd wr spot at least! HE'S A BUM

Other than blocking, Betts is a better back than Watson.

Sneeks you have to give WRs 3 years in the league before you label them a bust or a bad pick. Just b/c they don't have to adjust to the system doesn't mean they don't have to adjust to other things like NFL DBs.

I'd take Betts over Watson too, although I'd like to have Watson now.

sneeks, In all fairness, the drop you're talking about was a very hard catch to make. Ramsey turned him around and it was an over the sholder type catch. Jacobs was expecting the ball to be thrown to his right. Ramsey threw it over his left sholder. I know the ball went thru his hands but it was a tough catch.

No WRs would make it in the league if they're judged this early in their careers. Lets give the guy some more time.

I also see it as just the other recievers are performing pretty well and there is no spot on the field for him. I don't see him as a bum or a bust at all.

Way too early to judge Jacob's as a bust.

He has some serious talent in DMC and PJ ahead of him on the depth chart. He may not get a serious look for another year or so.

However, even if he was the official WR3, his targets would be limited.

yeah and look at santana moss...because of injuries and inexperience he did jack squat his first two years...now hes a monster and hes among the league recieving leaders

He will be fine, and if Rod is a RFA next year, maybe we'll need him.

Jacobs is gonna be just fine. We have to give him time.

I don't think he is a bust. I don't think we need him, though. DMC has been playing extremely well.

he's not a bust, we have three good wideouts d-mac, l. coles, and rod gardner. Give him time.

A little patience. Everyone knew that WR's take a little bit more time. If he is given the opportunity (blocking and sharing time with McCants) he'll come on strong as the year goes on and build for next year. Since he's been healthy our #3 WR slot hasn't been able to get much production due to the pass protection.

Can't call him a bust yet. I don't think he's given you anything on the field to support that.

Okay, for the 1,984,562nd time, Rod Grdner will not be a free agent of any kind next year.

Anyway, onto Jacobs. Give the man some time, people. He's arookie at the deepest position on the team. DMC has performing very, very well, so why would want to bring Jacobs in right now?

no, i like our combo of
coles, gardner, mccants

I read somewhere this week that jacobs will continue to push for more playing time this week as dmc is statrting to fade a bit in the last couple of weeks. they had also planned for jacobs to play quite a bit last week but it just didn't work out that way..

JoeDaSchmoe

How is DMC fading? I haven't seen that any more than the production of our other recievers, and that has far more to do with Ramsey lying on his back than anyone getting open and making catches.

A couple weeks ago seems like everyone was telling me Jacobs is just another gator bust ... are the opinions changing? ;)

I still like Jacobs. True we didn't need him but who knows how our WR's will look in another two years. If you want to talk about a BUST,.......... try Russell. Where the hell is he. Is he active? Is he on any special teams? I mean damn, this kid was a gamble on draft day.

Jacobs will be fine once he adjusts to the speed of the game.

I think we've all been talking about how to get the ball to Coles more, I don't see how getting the ball to your #4 wideout accomplishes that. I think it speaks to our depth at WR that Jacobs is still on the bench. I don't think anyone expected McCants to outperform Jacobs, but he has.

If we could block better, we might be able to run more 4 WR sets, but until then, Jacobs won't see his role expand by much.

Personally, I'd like to see Patrick Johnson elevated above Gardner. I think Jacobs will be fine though.

PJ above Gardner? That's a bit of a stretch.....

Joe, I'm still not sold on Gardner yet. I do like what I see from PJ. He catches balls.

Joe you missed 3, it's actually 1,984,565.

Way to early to pass judgement on TJ. I'd did notice that he was playing alot of ST (Punts and KO - not the return team though)

Let's keep in mind, though, that's he's playing against the other team's nickelback, not a starter. He may not be as effective against starting cornerbacks. We won't know that for sure until it happens. It is pretty clear, though, that he's got a good chance of making plays against nickelbacks.

It's nice to have both a speed guy and a physical guy starting at WR.

True, GIG, but sometimes speed and speed can work very well, especially for a big-play offense. Look at Buffalo last year.

On the other hand, I'm not sure how much faster Jacobs is than Gardner, and I don't think I'd elevate PJ to #2 receiver.

Should we start DMC next week to experiment?

higgybaby

I think that we should start dmc next week as an experiment. I also think that there is a way that we could go with 4 wide receiver sets.... go to 3 step drops and watch us move the chains. I have noticed that Pat Ram seems to have alot more success with these plays. open up the game with a no huddle 4 wide recieve set with nothing but three step drops and lets see what happens...

I am with h2s on this one. I would like to see us start Coles and PJ. Keep using McCants as we are.

I'd like to see a thrid WR on the field as a quick hitter option slanting towards the middle. ..... Finally saw it done once Sunday and was good for 8 yards.

i think we should stick with gardner. he can make big plays.

Green-Is-Good

He's too inconsistent. We can't continue to play him because he might make a big play.
