Nothing real shocking happened on the show...but it was intriguing regardless. Ironically, Sonny and George didn't ask a single question about who would start or get the majority of carries at RB this weekend. Regardless, Spurrier had some "classic quotes" about Ade Jimoh and Darrell Jackson. Check it out....

*On Hue Jackson calling the plays - Spurrier said Hue volunteered to call the plays...and Spurrier "slept on it". The next morning, he called his buddy Shannahan and asked him how he dealt with giving up the play calling. Later that day, he told Hue he got the gig. He said Hue is a "high energy guy" who has been known to motivate the team.

*How did Spurrier feel about giving up playcalling, which he is ultimately known for. - He said he has been mad at himself lately for his playcalling...especially during the Dallas game.

*On Seattle not blitzing - He said they were very surprised they didn't blitz as much...and they had planned even more rollouts and hot routes, which they didn't need to utilize too much. He did say the rollouts they did employ didn't work out so well.

*On David Terrell - He said Terrell has been a huge impact lately on special teams and playing nickle when Bauman was out.

*On the Engram TD where no one covered him in the endzone - He said the fault laid on Bowen's shoulders. He said Bowen "switched off" his man, which he was taught not to do during practice that week. He mentioned that it as not Jimoh's fault.

*On Ramsey's First INT that Coles forced the fumble. - He said it ultimately came down to a horrible block by Trung...which allowed Ramsey to get hit while he threw. He said the ball came out "under thrown" which led to the INT. He gave GREAT praise to LC for his hustle to force the fumble...and to Thomas for sticking with the play to recover the fumble. He laughed that the play ultimately gave them a 2 yard gain. He also mentioned it was the the play of the game.

*On the Coles TD - He said it was a beautiful throw and catch. Spurrier mentioned that this play is typically called when the ball is on the 20...but since it was called on the 15, Ramsey and Coles "almost ran out of land", but LC made a great catch and made sure his feet were in bounds

*On Ade Jimoh's personal foul - Spurrier said; [quote] "You would think Ade would be a little smarter than that! Thus far his plays for the Redskins have been bad plays. And he needs to make some good plays here REAL SOON." (He really called Jimoh out on this one...especially since Spurrier rarely calls out players)

*On the Fed Ex Field Crowd booing him early in the game - He said he expected to get booed. He said that ever since the 2nd half of the Bucs game, the Redskins have played bad enough to be booed.

*On the Coles catch for 60+ yards - He said Ramsey did a good job on the pump fake. George Michaels asked Spurrier why Coles couldn't take that pass to the house for a TD. Spurrier mentioned that it was Taylor Jacobs who was running the exact same route on the other side of the field...and after Coles caught the ball, Jacobs didn't block down field well enough. He said Jacob's "defender" got ahead of him and forced Coles to the inside, which led to the tackle.

*On the Bruce Smith Sack - He said it was due to Lavar! He said that Lavar "pinched" Bruce's offensive tackle which led to a clear lane to the QB. He said it was the only play of the game in which they made Lavar pinch out the OT on Bruce's side. He said they need to do that more in Carolina.

*On the gutsy 4th and 1 call - He said the Skins defense was allowing the Seattle defense to move the ball at will. He thought the Skins' offense needed to be on the field to get the win. He mentioned that even if it didn't work...and if Seattle did score, the Skins would have had 6 minutes or so to equalize it. He said it "was a smart coaching decision".

*On the Gardner WR touchdown pass - He complimented Rod's very tight spiral pass. He also mentioned there was great protection on the play. He said the Skins' offense had practiced that play "every day for 9 weeks and we finally called it"! He said they had originally gameplanned it for Dallas, but the opportunity didn't arise. He said LC was given credit for drawing most of the coverage to the left side of the field to allow Canidate to get open on the right side.

*On the Smoot INT - He said that Smoot had good coverage, but it was the Jackson drop that made the play happen. He commented that it was DJax's 3rd drop of the game...and that the "old Gator" had a bad day. He then went on to say; [quote] "He isn't going to last too long at that rate". OUCH! LOL

Thanks DJ. Notice the real soon on Jimoh. Bad play this week and he will be history. Not anything surprising. Spurrier has shown he is willing ot put pride aside to win, and that is shocking. He obviously, since he had to call Shannahan about letting Hue play call, deeply struggled with giving up the very thing that made him famous in college, his mastery at play calling.

Appreciate you doing this dj. The only coaches show I get out here is the Kirk Ferentz show, and as you might guess, it's not the same stuff.

Appreciate it.

Thanks DJ. Notice the real soon on Jimoh.

And when Spurrier said "Real Soon" about Jimoh picking up his play....he overemphasized the "REAL SOON". The last time Spurrier publically critiziced a player on the show (Rob Johnson) he was cut the next week.

I think one more bad play and Jimoh gets the boot.
