How much did Davis sign for? I can't remember the contract and it always annoys me when articles always question Snyder's move with "How could he just let Davis go?"

I checked the NFLPA site and it looks like Davis got a 5 year, 10 million dollar contract.

Here is the yearly breakdown: (I assume the signing bonus is already spread across each of these 5 figures)

2003 - $1,000,000.00
2004 - $2,000,000.00
2005 - $2,500,000.00
2006 - $1,800,000.00
2007 - $2,700,000.00

I don't know much about it but I remember hearing that it is VERY incentive heavy deal. So he definitely will be making much more then he signed for with the season he has had.

I believe you are right. Assuming he gets close to 2,000 yards this year, he could get a lot of incentives this season alone.

I think it is a five year and $15 million deal when you take his signing bonus into account. I will refrain from mentioning that the Redskins could have afforded it. :D

The Redskin running game has not been their problem the fact that we can't pass protect and stop the run has been our problem. I would still love to have Davis

They could have afforded that deal, but we were already on the hook for the 11million dollars that built up in incentives and salary. It's not like we could just tear up the contract and start over! We were obligated for the money.
