View Full Version : Another game we should have won

We gave away another game today by not capitalizing on turnovers and I can't believe no one covered Davis out of the backfield on that fourth down play. D played good throughout except for the long ball which killed us. The Offense had a chane to put it away in the first quarter with all the turn overs. But on the bright side the team overall has looked much better the last 2 weeks. I hope we can finish the year strong and maybe finish 8-8.

Should have won? We got handed our chance on a plate. Carolina dominated, period. 400+ total yards to under 200. We were thrown a life preserver by the bad hands of their receivers, and we couldn't swim to it. The only reason we had a good shot at winning is because we got lucky time and time again. The one chance we had to seal the victory we blew, but I will never say that we should have won that game.

We got handedthis game as much as we got handed Dallas. Both end up as zeros. Pathetic excuses.

We definately had a chance to win. Should have been up 10-0 in the first five minutes. Can't leave points like that on the field if you expect to win a game, doesn't matter who you are or who you are playing.

I will say that we will never, ever be a serious contender until our QB completes 60% of his passes. Whether that is more accuracy on his part, better blocking on the O line's part, whatever. We wont' be a playoff team with a 50% completion rate at QB.

It was both today. For the most, though, I'd say it's been the blocking. Not just the O-line, the backs and tight ends too. Ramsey is generally accurate when he has time. Today he wasn't. I would think it's more of an abberation than the beginning of a trend.

II guess I'm in the minority today but we played a playoff team and didnt quit after a disappointing first half full of blown opportunities. This team is playing better than they did against TB,Philly,or the Cowboys. We couldve gotten more out of the O in the 1st half and it would be a mute point. Not as many penalties,Ramsey was pressured but those guys front 4 are one of the best in the NFL.And to me the protection schemes were better than they were for our losses prior to the seahawk game.
The early fumble by Rock hurt and may be why we didnt see enough of him .But I see us now playing better and being in games heck we actually took the lead late. The D cant do it all.Just 1 TD in the first half and were 5-5.This isnt one of those clueless losses that we had against the Bills.IMO we are making progress and i think we will equal or better last years mark now.In a poll a few weeks ago I said 6-10 at best as did many others. All I'm saying is this one hurts but we are playing better ball. With a strong finish, good FA dline/TE/RB pickup and solid drafting ala this past year and Ramsey having another year to grow it could turn into what we all wished for this year, but realized wasnt going to happen until next anyway.Look the D held it's own against the run,by years end DR may be in shape and Dalton as well, say Noble was to make a comeback we would just need a real pass rushing DE(FA) and draft a real DT and a solid 3rd,4th round DE Pair this with Upshaw,Zellner and the D line woes would be vastly upgraded. We have wr's,we also need a solid RB,TE and another guard incase Fiore doesnt return. We finish strong build momentum,we play the look at the parity in the league card to champ meet him in the middle and have a solid offseason the franchise may not be in the toilet like we feared.

The franchise may not be in the toilet, but I fear the season is.

This season went into the toilet when we quit against a poor Buffalo team..... I don't think all is lost for the franchise we need to resign Champ and work on the D-line

Hard to do both, RB.

1.SS and Hue together can be successful
2.That we can get what we need this offseason to make the D legit.
3.And this O needs 3 pieces another starting guard/c,te and possibly a talented back. These last 3 parts can be found2nd-5th rounds easy.
We can plug our holes this offseason.I mean we picked up a lot this offseason but we still had holes and everyone here knewe it.We would need less this offseason and our QB will be even better.I like our chances lets keep building this year even if we are not going to the playoffs. And if the guys we know we cant /wont keep arent willing to put it all on the line for the same goal then bench them or cut em/put em on the block but lets keep bringin it!

It's sad to start looking towards next season after 10 games of this season, but unfortunately, we just aren't a playoff team, period. We have gaping holes that need to be dealt with, and hopefully we can have another off-season that will position us to be more competitive next year. Losing is painful, but I'd rather lose a game where the boys played their tails off and lose a close one, rather than some of the debacles like Tampa Bay and Buffalo where we just looked outclassed. Number one priority for the off-season?? A legit pass rushing DE to put consistent pressure on the QB. If given time, any QB in the league, including Jake Delhomme, can look like a pro-bowler.

Its not hard to do both... Franchise Champ and draft wisely something we haven't done lately. Trade Gardner for a 2nd their are ways you just have to think

If we were to trade Gardner, I'd rather do it for a good, established D-lineman than a draft pick.

Gardner isn't great but at least we know what we have with him. I would rather get a good d-lineman too. As far as a 2nd rounder for him I haven't liked our last 2 2nd round picks Betts and Jacobs both haven't contributed much.......yet

Another game we should have won ??????? ...... I didn't see us get screwed by the officals today and that's the only way a team "should have won and didn't". .....
We didn't win because our DB's played poorly.
We didn't win because we couldn't convert TO into Pts.
We didn't win because out QB was launching grass bombs.
We didn't win because we had no effective backfield.
We didn't win because we can't protect our QB.

Should have won???? No. Could have won???? Hell yes, just eliminate any two of the above.

Nice sum up Patrick. I think that says it all.

All the great teams and coaches always capitalized on TO's.
This would have been a different game... You cannot leave the points on the field that early in a game. Had there been points scored, IMO, Ramsy would have setlled down and the D would have stepped up.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda.... Again we get the "L"

Rob, I think this quaifies as a back-to-back post. You can't accuse Spence of padding and pad yourself, you hypocrite! :D
