Good job Edwards, you took a strength and made it our weakness. That takes some real bad coaching. I wish Marvin Lewis was still here. I bet we would be 7-5 or better right now if he stuck around. I wish we could have kept him and gotten rid of SS and his sorry sack of assistants. What the heck is going on with the D. The first half there good, second half they suck?

As much as I'm not a fan of Edwards, Marv had some resemblence of a defensive line to work with.

I used to live in Tempe, the D line was better, but the LBs have been out of position constantly this year.

I am not in any way happy with Edwards. The play calling sucks, the zone defense blows and the prevent is horrid, plus Edwards rarely blitzes.

With that being said, if you are gonna bring back SS, then Edwards shoudl return. How can any of you justify a third season for Spurrier, but not give a rookie DC a second chance with a revamped line. If anything, SS does not deserve the shot.

Edwards does at least as much with his talent on defense as Spurrier does with his on offense. The defensive line is a huge difference between Marvin Lewis' defense and George Edwards' defense. Plus, it is a little tough to compare George Edwards to Marvin Lewis. Marvin is a truly great coach, one of the best defensive architects in recent years. Only a few coaches would look pretty good by comparison with Marvin Lewis. Bill Belichick comes to mind.

I don't want to see Edwards next year, Spurrier or no Spurrier. Of course, I'd prefer the latter of those two options.

If Edwards can bring the blitz and stop calling zones and prevents when we are up 7 in the third, then I would vote to bring him back.

Can not compare last year's defense with this years. Bottomline, we have very weak defensive line. Give Edwards a couple of dominate DT's and a good outside DE and you'd see the ranking go way up. ... All this stuff about the LBs being out of position - yeah that doesn't help for sure, but it still doesn't have anything to do with NO pressure from the D-line.

Oh, and BTW, I just don't think Edwards has earned the respect of the LB's. It will come when the whole coaching staff settles down.

Keep Edwards and give him another year to prove himself.

It's ridiculous to think that with the DLine that Edwards was given by the office that he could do anything. Sure he makes some rookie mistakes, but it's up to some of these "Veterans" to talk with Edwards and say these things aren't working, lets try something else. And if I never see the Redskins play Prevent again I will be the happiest man alive.

I'm with Mark on that one. The linebackers like Edwards. I hate it when players are too fond of their coaches. Admire the coach? Fine. Respect the coach? Fine. Fear the coach? Fine. But when a guy with as little football sense as Lavar Arrington raves on and on about how great it is to play in a system that finally "let's me be me," I know we've got trouble.

Spence- we're on a roll with our disagreements!:D

I think Lavar has MAJOR FOOTBALL SENSE. In fact he may be one of the Smartest players in the game. He's been playing since he was in elemntary school. It doesn't matter how physically gifted you are, you simply cannot get to this level with out being a smart football player. Lavars problem is emotion, he's so upset about losing that he's willing to take chances to make a big play. Sadly that get's us burned alot. Correct me if I'm wrong but, I really haven't seen him make any major mistakes since he let The giants FB run loose in OT. That tells me he has learned from his mistake. Trotter has made sever boneheaded mistakes and has not learned.... that troubles me more.

Why is it when we do blitz the blitzer or blitzers do not even get close to the QB? Or its a running play and they run right by the RB. The D line was decent last year, but it wasn't spectacular. Taking a defense down 20 or so spots really takes lack of skill. I think if the cap penalty isn't to severe we should get rid of Trotter.

I meant respect as a coach..... I agree, there is a time for friendship and there is a time for employer/employee relationship.
