The timing is rather peculiar.

Well, the owner, Arthur Blanks [of Home Depot fame], told Reeves Tuesday that he would be fired at the end of the season. Reeves asked to be let go immediately. This is something Blanks should have discussed with Reeves after the season, in my opinion. It's rather crude to tell a man with a death sentence that he should go out and keep working his ass off for the team. I'd have fired Reeves, too, but in January.

Its a dumb move..its not like he is gonna get a winning record out of the team. Just leave it all alone till the season is over....Mike Vick Is my starting Fantasy QB in the playoffs dammit!!!

Dan Reeves was fired today. Dont even think about him as a Skins head coach. Unless of course he brings Vick with him!

This belongs in the NFL Forum, where another thread of the same subject already exists. I'm moving this thread to the NFL Forum and merging it with the pre-existing one.

"We want to begin the process of searching for a new head coach in a thorough and honest manner," Blank said. "In order to do so, and as Dan and I previously discussed, I wanted to let him know of our decision first."
I may be wrong, but I think the regulations are in place that no team can talk to an active coach until the end of the season or the team is out of the playoffs. As for a "fired" coach, I'm not sure. I like Dan Reeves, and I hope this news sets other teams to looking to him early before the other predicted coaches are let go.
Good Luck Coach Reeves!

I hate when owners act this way... no class at all.

I hear he's being replaced by Terry Robiskie. He's found his nitch.

This is a coach who has done a lot in his career, 200+ wins.
I remember him while he was in Denver, Super Bowl XXII, always sorta reminded me of Gibbs in his coaching style back then.
Reeves is a coach that's been to 4 SB but has never won...that's kinda sad...

Being divorced from a Bills fan I am disappointed Marv isn't the only one.

Maybe we could hire him as an assistant? That is, if he is not offered a head coaching job elsewhere.
