Geeze, it looks even uglier from that position

He is playing through an injury, as all greats do, and while that may not be his biggest problem defending, I hope it is a very large one.

He is still one of the best and I want him to stay. It will be real interesting to see what happens in that FO this offseason.

Snyder might use this picture in the negotiations.

Exhibit A.

I'm just having some fun with the pic.

Great pic. Man that does look alot worse. I could understand Randy Moss burning him like that, maybe Torry Holt, maybe Marvin Harrison but Marty Booker. Marty Booker?

Good idea Hail2Skins maybe we should send it to Snyder.

Say what you want about Champ, for an injured #1 corner he is as good a cover/run support corner as it gets. He got beat, it Happens.................

Hahaha good one. I still would like to keep Champ, he's a great CB but he needs to take what we offered him and shut up.

first off marty booker is a good wideout
second off even great corners get burned
third off booker pushed off to get open in the first place (check the film)
fourth anybody who wants to get rid of champ should have their head examined, you cannot replace a fanchise cornerback (and i love smoot but he is not a fanchise guy!!!)

Yes..Marty is a good WR. He has been held back by those horrible Chicago QBs the past few years.

BTW - I checked the film and there was zero to little contact at all on the play. Champ turned early, and Booker kept going. This one was all on Champ. You also can't blame it on the pass rush, because Rex threw the ball immediately after the snap. It was simply a bad burn...

Finally....No one here wants to get rid of Champ because we think he sucsk. I personally would like to see him retire a Redskin. The problem is that he is asking for too much money...and his desire to be a Redskin is not evident.

And the truth shall set him free............

Yup if Champ does not want to be here makes it hard to keep him.

i accept your assessment, either way i think it would be a mistake to not resign him,
plus if we do keep our defensive coordinator and offer the same contract with more bonus money guaranteed will be be able to lock him up for the lifetime with least possible effect on the cap.

He gets burned atleast once a game and for a CB who is supposed to be the best thats to much.

Champ is lucky to play in a division where there are no elite receivers. If he played in any other division, he would be exposed. Can you imagine Champ playing in the NFC West this year. Torry Holt would make him his girl (toned down) one week, and then Terell Owens would torch him the next. If he knows what's good for him, he'd either stay here or go to another NFC East team.

Actually...Capitol_Cop brings up a great point. [Aside from Coles] Toomer is the only other NFC East Wide Receiver in the top 30 for receiving yards in the entire league.

Take a look at the NFC EAST Receivers.
Amani Toomer ----1010 yards
Terry Glenn ---------712 yards
Ike Hilliard ----------608 yards
Joey Galloway ------601 yards
James Thrash ------550 yards
Antonio Bryant -----530 yards
Todd Pinkston ------501 yards
Freddie Mitchell ----451 yards

See, I'm not crazy... Torry Holt actually had more yards receiving and touchdowns than all the Eagles receivers combined. If we sign Champ to a huge contract he will be our A-Rod. We will be perennial losers with one or two GREAT players. To compete in the NFL where parity rules we need to field a more complete team. Signing Champ to a big contract hurts our chances of getting that complete team.

Again Champ Bailey = Overrated Cornerback

your point is well taken, however maybe the reason none of these receivers are top in rec. yds is because of the corners in the NFC east. The NFC East can't stop the run or rush the passer, as good as Dallas is their still rank 21st in sacks, Skins 25th and they still defend the pass well especially the Skins if you consider where they are in total def. We still may lose Champ anyway so the point is mute. I think he is not only a good cover corner but he run supports well to which most corners don't do.............

Champ plays the run exceptionally well for a CB.

I completely agree. He plays the run 10 times better than Smoot. I'd even argue that he might be in the top 5 as far as run supporting cb's go.

This is a good point. Maybe the corners in the NFC East are the reason the receivers don't have good stats. All teams have good secondariess with good corners. Another reason is that teams in the NFC East like running the ball. As for the Holt issue, I recall us playing them last year and I think our secondary did pretty well. We won the game.

I agree that the NFC East has exceptional d-backs...but that doesn't take away the notion that the NFC East has the worst grouping of receivers.

dj I read you, and I know we're beating this thing up, but if you look, the NFC East offenses are not exactly burning up the field. I don't agree paying Champ to much more than the going rate for a top corner, especially when it may cost us to upgrade the DL, which I think is what going to happen. Do we let Champ go, upgrade the DL and then play musical chairs at corner?
