Keep hearing about this. If Huizinga would actually take those last three years off my hands I'd jump at the offer immediately. Say yes before ol' Wayne comes to his senses. But who knows what Snyder would do?

I got a feeling this may be a done deal...also wouldnt be suprised to see Jimmy Johnson back in Miami as GM he is friends with both Huizinga and Spurrier.

i may be wrong but, after the " gruden trade " ( gruden from the raiders to the bucs for a bunch of draft picks ) ;
the nfl adopted a new policy/rule that prohibits the trading of coaches for draft picks ~ ~ ~

All I know is that somethings up because Spurrier said there will be BIG changes after the season.
Guess he could have been talking about himself!

I hope spurrier doesn't leave. I'll be the first to say it....If Spurrier goes to miami, they will be an offensive juggernaut. his system WILL succeed. If not, I will admit that I was totally wrong about spurrier and that the fun&gun hybrid doesn't work in the NFL.

I can't imagine how his system will succeed in Miami when he will inherit a very similar team to his first year in Washington. Decent WRs. Power back who gets better the more he carries the ball. A good defense. Sure sounds familiar. Plus I think the AFC East is a much harder division. The Bills will get better and they have the Pats and a full year of Chad Pennington ahead of him. I doubt Spurrier would prove any critics wrong in Miami.

ITS NOT HIS SYSTEM ITS HIM I have lost all faith in him as a leader think of the players listening to him describe this past sundays game against Buffalo...Its emberrassing to the team to him and to his familey

~ ~ ~ " SPURRIER RUMOR DENIED
Dolphins president Eddie Jones denied a story by ESPN's Chris Mortensen that said Huizenga was considering buying out the final three years of Washington coach Steve Spurrier's original five-year, $25 million contract. Spurrier has led the Redskins to a 5-10 record so far this season.
''The only focus this organization has now is to beat the Jets,'' Jones said, referring to the Jets-Dolphins game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pro Player Stadium.
``There has been no discussion either internally or externally about anything other than that.''
Spurrier said he hasn't heard from the Dolphins and shot down the premise he might be contacted.
''If we're 5-10 and somebody thinks I might go somewhere else, that's probably flattering, whoever's starting them [the rumors],'' Spurrier said. ``Usually, when you're 5-10, the rumor is that you're about gone from wherever you are. I don't pay any attention to many rumors and things like that. That's all they are.
``. . . Somebody said it's the time of the year when everybody wants to know where the coaches are going to end up -- about eight or 10 NFL coaches, where are they going to end up next year? It's something to talk about.''

I just read yesterday that this isn't true. Can't remember where but I believe it was in reference to this rumor.
Dear Miami Dolphins,
Spurrier is a great leader and an offensive genius. He'll get that offense going. You'll have numerous games where the offense scores over 40 points. Florida is great for pitch'n and catch'n so Spurrier is the right choice for you. He is a players coach and a coach's coach. He made his mark in Florida and he can definately do it again. The Redskins would be stupid to let such a talent go but we've done it before and we can do it again. Ricky Williams will thrive in Spurrier's offense much like Stephen Davis did and I'm sure Jay Fieldler will have no problem learning the audibles of the Fun n Gun. Spurrier will be on vacation there starting on Monday for 2 weeks. I believe he packed up everything he bought with him which wasn't much since he's been wearing the Burgundy and Gold and we provided that to him. All he's carrying back is a pair of grey flannel slacks, a white dress shirt, black dress shoes, boating shoes, a couple of polo shirts and a pair of khakis. See, some thought he relocated but he didn't. His true belongings (golf clubs and cart) have always been in Florida. He's been using those knockoffs since he's been here. I'm sure you'll only need one 15 minute meeting with him to decide he is your guy. You can look at this as a great investment in your organization. You get Mr. Steve Spurrier for a measly $15 million dollars but on the bright side, you'll gain alot more fans who have supported him throughout his career. I don't envy you.

for my money, there is alot more noise about this, I think what might hold it up is that Snyder would want to look like he wants to keep Spurrier. And the Gruden deal did quelch HIGH compensation for head coaches, the most the Skins could probably get would be a 2nd or two 3rds (which I would take)
