Rod sucks. at this point he's a better QB than a reciever. another sunday of dropped passes, half efforts and bad route running. Well, at least he didn't jump off sides or clip anyone last sunday. I'm really irritated with him as you can tell. It especially hurts that he was a firtst round pick. Damn you Marty!!!!

I like McCants and I think he would have done more with the opportunities that Gardner had "on pass plays". The money we would save would help too.

Keep in mind that a lot of salary cap moves aren't too popular with the fans.

IMHO, I think we should move Either Jacobs or DMC to #2, trade Rod for a decent pick(aliviating some cap space) get PJ and Cliff Russel more involved in the Offense and If Russel doesn't pan out, give Cloman or Flowers a shot to make the team. Heck maybe even bring back Skaggs. I'm not asking for big time nubers from our #2 WR, but I am going to ask that the #2 NOT make stupid block in the back penalties, jump offsides, and I would like him to catch maybe 75% of the "catchable" balls thrown his way. in 3 seasons Rod Gardener has not accomplished any of these 3 things. I know DMC had a few Boneheaded taunting penalties last year and early this year but he seems to have grown up a bit since then. I think he would make a fin #2 or 3. I'd love to see him and Jacobs battle it out in camp and pre-season for the #2 spot.

Can him, and get a GOOD receiver or two in his place. Maybe we can even get some good Tight Ends that can block AND catch passes!

He's still a solid number 2 reciever. Just about 4 guys on 53 man roster play effortless football but guys like Gardner get singled out because we've all seen him play better. He's had one relatively good rookie year, one solid season with a passing game that stunk and one down year. Lay off the guy for goodness sakes.

If we had a true NFL GM, the Gardner situation would be under review right now ! .
In actuallity, there can be a great deal of uncertainty as to Rod's future with the team.....

he should have had a much, much better year than he had, with coles taking much of the covergae with him....he doesnt show up in the big games and needs maybe one more year to get his s**t straight......BUT if we can get good value for him, bye bye rod.......i say we go get dennis northcutt as a #3 and bump mccants up.....

Gardner took up as much covarege as Coles because we had no running game. Teams could essentially 2 guys on ezch and not miss a beat cause they knew we were gonna pass. It's not as simple as Coles gets all the attention, Gardner should have a big year.
