View Full Version : The final word on Trung

Some on this board like Trung and some hate him. I just want to bring light to the fact that we traded David Loverne to the rams to get Canidate. I really don't feel too much either way about him but who wouldn't make that trade any day of the week? We basically broke even. It was a total gamble. I consider us lucky that he wasn't a total bust. Yes he has been injury riddled this year but so has everyone else on this team. who knows, maybe next year he'll be that great change of pace back that I think he can be.

We traded David Loverne for Trung, not Stai

Oooops, my mistake you are exactly right!!!!! Either way Loverne or Stai, both are/were/forever will be stiffs. Was it Stai that retired right after last season???

With your permission PSF I will now edit my original post to reflect the correct trade info. Sorry for the goof!

The real damage from the Canidate trade is the time wasted by the team waiting for Trung to turn into a dominating scatback. Didn't happen. Won't happen. They should move him to wideout.

No problem mayhem! :D

I dunno. Trung tends to get hurt, and when he does it is not a game or two thing, which I question, can he be durable. Do we have a durable back besides Rock on this team?

Trung was a gamble and if I were the GM, I'd of probably made the same trade. BUT, the gamble didn't pay off for us and I'm not sure that anything will change next year. Yeah, we need another big Tre type guard and also upgrade at the center positon, but it does not look like that's part of our draft priorities (nor should it be). A different style runner may make a difference AND if I had to choose one, I'm pretty sure we could get Mike Turner in the second round. (Just have a feeling he is going to be the steel of the draft)

What about the cap penalty when he is cut, anyone know the amount?

Not sure about the cap penalty but isn't this the last year of his contract? if so there won't be a cap penalty.

Trung will always be a situational runner... and I think the time has come that he needs to admit to that.

He's always good for a dance or two. I'm still waiting for that "breakaway" speed.

I don't the cap penalty is much since we traded him so we shouldn't absorb any of his signing bonus which is what usually kills the cap when a player is released. We shoul be fine if we cut him.

Right. Which makes us the loser on that trade. I also believe we extended Trung's Contract when we got him. Not sure about that though.....

It's not like we have a Walter Payton on the roster that suffered in development behind Trung. Besides we are not a running team, most of the year our running game is the strength of our offense, and it hasn't been that bad.

We never stuck with running game when it was going good,
we never stuck w/ running game when it was going bad,
we never stuck w/ a RB that was hot,
we never stuck w/ a RB that was cold.
