I'm beginning to think it's very possible, perhaps probable if they stick at #1 .. which is a pretty big if. They went defense in rounds 1 and 2 last year, and used their top pick on quentin jammer the year before. The Drew Brees expirament seems to be over, and Manning's the best player on the board ..

I think it is a posibility but a trade seneiro is also a posibility. Remember they traded instead of taking Vick. With Marty barely holding onto his job do you think he wants to head into a season with a rookie? Or are they afarid of being bashed like they are now for not taking Vick? Either way I doubt we will find out for awhile

Valid points but i don't know that he would be better off with flutie or brees than a rookie manning .. he will have his growing pains like everyone though.

I live in SD...... local sports talk radio dudes say that likely Marty will bring in a vet QB. Thinking is that Eli may not be as good as Peyton. Probably still some concerns about repeating the Ryan Leaf disaster. Chargers have many needs.... may trade down to get multiple picks.

Thanks for the info. Sounds about right regarding Marty, it would probably be a good move for them to trade down and maybe go after a Brunell or Kurt Warner throught FA.

The word is that Eli is even BETTER than Peyton Manning. I think Marty (who incidentally should STILL be the head coach of the Redskins) would be foolish to pass up on Manning. The worst thing for Eli would be to wind up in Arizona. That franchise has killed more talent than any other.

Hard to judge Eli vs Peyton as Eli didn't have near the surrounding cast. He probably has the potential to be as good as his brother, but Peyton is a beast and there's no guarantees he'll adapt as well .. though I think he'll be better than Carson Palmer, David Carr, Joey Harrington, etc

I believe that IF SanDeigo does not move down the board that Manning is the pick. And I also believe that Manning is NOT the best QB coming out of college this year. ......... Interesting.

Manning is definatly the best QB comeing out... He kept his team in games against the nations best teams with no receivers and no backs. Marty will find a way to screw this up he always does.

If San Deigo stays at #1 they'll take Manning.

To be honest I can't see them not taking him. Manning could muster enough of a passing game to allow LT to take over the game.

i dont think marty will take any qb. i think they will give drew brees 1 more year. they will prolly trade down and draft defensively. im thinking sean taylor.
