This is how our draft picks will look.
1st round (#5)
2nd round (#5)
3rd round (#5)
4th round- Traded to NE last year for 2003 3rd and 5th picks.
5th round- Traded to Denver for DT Lionel Dalton. Dalton had to play 40% of the plays, if not, this would be our 7th round pick.
6th round- Traded to NO for Martin Chase. Chase had to play 40% of the plays, otherwise it's the 7th round pick.
7th round- depends on if Chase or Dalton played 40% of the snaps.
So for sure we will only get 4 draft picks. 1-3 and anywhere from 4th round to 7th round.
If anyone knows if Dalton or Chase made their 40%, please let us know.

actually it will be the 10th pick in round 2
and the 9th pick in round 3
as we rotate with all the teams that finished 5-11

I thought that team with the lowest opponent's winning percentage always go the highest? Are you sure about this?

No we get the 54th pick in round 2. It doesn't rotate.

54th pick? How does that work out? I heard it doesnt rotate... and that makes us at pick #37 for Round 2.

All the mock draft sites I've looked at have no rotation. But I'm almost postive that, in the past, something rotates in regard to order?? Is is it only for teams that flip a coin??

i think it is only when teams flip a coin. for example, 2 years ago we had like the 18th pick and denver had the 19th pick. we eventually traded down twice and took ramsey. THEN, IN ROUND 2, THE BRONCOS TOOK CLINTON PORTIS THE PICK BEFORE US, AND WE TOOK LADELL BETTS!!! DOOOOOOOOO

I know this is not likely but what if neither chase or dalton played in 40% of the plays. Would that mean that we gave up a 7th rounder what we don't have?

So what the hell pick do we have? I've never heard of rotating picks either. It's always been the same teams picking from the same spot every round barring trades and such. Our 2nd will be high enough to steal a 1st round quality player and our 3rd will be high enough to nab a 2nd round quality player, a stud O-lineman would be a good choice here.

I'm sure if need be, we'd trade for another 7th rounder to seal the deal.
The point of my initial post is to show that we really can only rely on the first 3 rounds. I've seen a lot of people here saying "in round 4 we should take so-and-so."

Actually...the Broncos took Portis at with the 51st overall...and the Skins took Betts 5 picks later with the 56th overall. (And the Seahawks took RB Maurice Morris in between the two picks at 54th overall.)

It is my understanding that the Saints get our 7th round pick for Chase, since he did not play in 40% of defensive snaps. We owe a 7th round pick to Denver because Dalton did not play in 40% of defensive snaps either. We must have had at least two 7th round picks since you are not allowed to trade more picks than you actually have.

Yep - With the # of choices we have, trading down to get another additional picks is something that needs to be studied.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought I remembered that as the case, but couldn't quite remember.
