here's a name nobody has mentioned that im sure EVERYBODY would love to have.....

Dick Vermeil

his contract is over after this year, and he says that he still wants to coach. why not have snyder open up his checkbook, and give dicky the rest of spurrier's contract, 3 years 15 million.

Vermeil says he wants to return to KC, not just anywhere. Vermeil turned down Snyder before and Snyder turned to Schottenheimer instead. Snyder's reputation around the league has hardly improved since then. Vermeil is coaching a 13-3 team that will certainly be very good again next year and he has a professional general manager who leaves him alone to coach the team as he sees fit. He wouldn't get any of that in Washington.

Vermeil cares about money, but not that much.

You know, many Redskins fans seem to view coaches the way Snyder and Cerrato view players: If you throw enough money at the problem you are certain to fix it. It hasn't worked for players so why would it work for coaches? Schottenheimer came here for the money. So did Spurrier? Why don't we get someone who comes here not just for the money, but because he is enthused about our prospects as a franchise?

Truthfully... Snyder doesnt give a rip what we Redskins fans think at all. This Redskins fan is speaking the logic of the past Snyder hirings... and that is that money will determine the name... despite what every fan in DC says.

Well, I certainly agree that Snyder does not care what Redskins fans think, as long as we continue to scuttle into FedEx Field 10 times a year and empty our pockets before going home, but I just think there are some people [the quality people] who cannot be bought. As I noted in another thread, some coaches have already turned down Snyder. Since Jimmy Johnson is not on the Redskins short list of coaching prospects we can safely assume he turned Snyder down--because I'm absolutely sure Snyder offered him the job. I'm sure Snyder has, at one time or another, offered the job to Parcells. No dice there either.

There are people who say to themselves: Why should I take $5 million and be miserable in DC when I can take $4 million somewhere else and be happy with a playoff team? I suspect there are more and more of them with every passing day.

wiht arrington, bailey, ramsey, coles, samuels, jansen, thomas, hall, trotter, armstead, and smoot, i think most coaches wouldnt mind working with them. i think the money just says that we want a coach to work with them. besides, are d is just as good as the chiefs.

13-3 v. 5-11.
Real GM v. Amateur GM.
Stand-off ownership v. In-your-face ownership.

Which do you think most coaches prefer? People have got to stop assuming that money will buy any coach we want. If that were the case then Jimmy Johnson or Bill Parcells would be running the team right now.

I believe Vermeil already has agrred to some sort of extension with the Chiefs.

You're right Joe, no numbers but he did say one more year. He's not going to leave a class organization like KC to come to Barnum and Bailey.

Dick Vermeil is too nice of a person to destroy by having him coach this circus of a franchise....I like the guy to much to punish him that way!

I only found out this year that he was offered the job before Shotty. What could have been if Vermill had taken the job and had total control. Sigh :(
