I don't want him. He doesn't seem like he'll last in the long haul.

Interesting. If I'm reading it right, Fassel appears to be making some pre-hire demands. It seems he wants a real personnel expert hired to run the front office if he, Fassel, takes the head coaching job. That's very sensible of him. If this is true, it makes Fassel less likely to be our head coach and also probably makes him far more qualified to be our coach than anyone who takes the job without getting assurances about the front office.
Only with the Redskins do things get this complicated. Man, I'm sick of our team being everyone's favorite psychodocumdrama.

Spence you hit the nail on the head, these "demands" wouldn't be a big deal for any other franchise, in fact they would be perfectly in-line just about ever other team in the league. But not Danny boy, he's in charge, and he wants the world to see the amazing jo that he's going to do.

Im certainley not sold on Rhodes.we have heard a lot about fassel but something about his comments leads me to believe the Bills job may be the best fit for him.Denny weve barely heard anything about, which cant be good.and Im not sure rhodes is the answer.I see him as being more of a "Dave Campo" for the Skins.Infact i dont know if he will even accept it if offered. Then we could relly be SOL.

You're telling me. I'm still hoping Snyder will hire Lovie Smith

SOL if he doesn't accept? I'd think we'd be more SOL if he did accept. If he doesn't, and we can't bring in Fassel or Green, then we can try out some quality assistants like Weis, Crennel, Mularkey, maybe even Heimerdinger (who I really llike but doesn't seem to be on anyone's map). I'd rather have them than Rhodes.

Ok guess i left out a bit I meant to say if Fassel goes to buffalo,Green to ARZ and the bears get Crennel or Lovie, not to mention the raiders need a coach, couple that withn Rhodes turning us down we could be SOL.I mean I would feel a lot better if we could get Fassel or green.Rhodes would be a distant 3rd IMO and if he turns us down and vacancies keep being filled.we could be left with an inexperienced coach. With him going up against the likes of Parcells,Coughlin, and Reid twice each season that doesnt look good to me.

If Rhoads gets the job we will be looking for a new coach next year again. Get Fassel of Green. You can't go wrong with them.

Getting the same vibes from the article Spence! Part of my pitch for Jim is that he has the backbone to deal with the Dan~Vin combo. Green, (I could be wrong) just comes off to me as a yes man, he'll tell Dan anything he wants while Jim will tell him what he needs! Now can Snyder respect that? I respect Rays reasoning on being leery on the head position, did seem to me like he got shafted by the Pack. My problem again with Green, forget the mans former record, that will mean zero if and when he signs. With this F.O.(as it exists today) and the team overall talent wise who can raise the talent on hand now? Results are needed next year as 99% of us are more impatient than Dan! And who can deal and or demand from Dan the most of these three? Which coach will the team buy into? We have to face reality with this team! We require a demanding coach, not only of the team, but the F.O! Think the team would be tougher under Ray or Jim than the used car salesman. Maybe they wait too long and miss out on Green or Fassell and we have to settle for longshots?

I have maintained all along that I would be happy with any of the Top 3 Canidates. People forget that Rhodes was Coach of the year for an overachieving Eagles team in 95. I think he got a raw deal in Green Bay and that is the reason for his wariness.......

A lot of us loved the high profile addition of SS when he came to DC. we all thought he would surely lead us back to the playoffs. instead, he left with his tail between his legs. MAYBE Ray will come with less fanfare and at least help us look like a pro team!
he is not my first choice, but I do like him.

KEINO, my concern about Rhodes [and it is my only concern] is that he melted down in Philadelphia. He started brilliantly so we know he can be a superb coach. However, his personality is so intense--even by the standards of NFL coaches--that I worry he will almost destroy himself here, as he almost did in Philadelphia.
You're correct that Rhodes has been wary about taking head coaching jobs since he was fired after just one season [and an 8-8 record] in Green Bay. You could be correct again that Rhodes' wariness stems from his concerns about fairness, but I think it equally likely that Rhodes' wariness comes from a realization that being a head coach was a brutalizing experience for him, psychologically and even physically. Some people are intellectually suited to be a head coach, but not psychologically suited. I fear Rhodes falls into this category. He's clearly qualified and capable to be an NFL coach, but he seems to be so demanding of himself that the job becomes an emotional torture for him.

I simply do not want him if he is not 100% hungry to lead a team.

That's fair Spence. Only he can be the judge of his own capacity to handle the pressures of being the HC again. Im happy he is exploring it, however. The way he turns around Defenses is almost Unprecedented and my comments were more in response to the overwhelming sentiment on this board that Green and Fassle are MUCH better canidates than is Rhodes.......

Based on Ray Rhodes past experience with Daniel Snyder and the existing FO, what is his motive to come here and be the HC of the Redskins? ?
