I'm not entirely sure if this is legit or not, but I saw it on ExtremeSkins' message board, and figured that it's worth a shot. Apparently one of the members there was able to get Karl Swanson's email (he handles press relations), and has heard that Swanson will give Snyder a rundown of any big messages in the emails he receives.

I've already sent an email asking him to please pass on the message to Snyder that the fans do not want Ray Rhodes hired. The more mail he gets about this, the more likely that he might actually mention it to the Danny, and, well, every little bit helps.

Here's the address:

Well, I e-mailed Mr Swanson and asked him to tell Mr Snyder that he needs to hire a real GM to run the team. Every problem the Redskins have flows from that one deficiency.

I did the same, and mentioned to him my desire to see Dennis Green wearing the burgundy and gold.

I asked for a trial...

of coruse we are all assuming one piece of info that is not true, and that woudl be that Dan Snyder cares what we think. HE DOESN'T. Ray Rhoads will eb the choice, is the obvious choice. he will nto request front office struture changes, will accept the same front office functionality as last season, has the respect of snyder, and gets along well with Cerrato. Ray Rhoads will be the next HC of the Redskins.

I'm not to sure how I feel about this.....I'd prefer Green or Fassel but hey, I'm just a fan.

Mark, I agree Snyder does not care what we think...unless or until we begin to affect the weight of his wallet. But since the e-mail address is right there I figured what the hell.

I sent my e-mail requesting a true, proven NFL GM.....

Less than 2 hours have gone by and I have received a response thanking me for my input. :)

The writer of the e-mail thanked me for my thoughts....

So who knows, maybe our writingand sending serious e-mails will be passed along and do some good.

I sent an email to Karl then also used same format for Dan and Vinny.

Fans will not warm up to Fassel because he has been a hated division rival and didn't win enough!! We never warmed up to Deon etc.

Denny Green!

I emailed asking about a GM

He is not going to hire a GM and so I asked that he hires someone that will bring a winning atmospere back and for a long time and if that means giving up a little control then so be it.

this is my email in its entirety, followed by the response. interesting.

It seems that every successful team in the NFL has a GM who draws up a map to success. A coach has input, obviously, but the GM and the owner has final say. That is what we need. Please pass this along. Thank you. A family of five

here is the response in less than 20 minutes....

actually, only about a dozen NFL teams have GMs. New England does not, Seattle does not, Denver does not, Green Bay does not, for example.

I know I should have done a little more research before I sent off that email but that doesn't sound like the response from a representative of a customer conscience organization, does it? I think the adress is a hoax. maybe not. If it is the real deal, then it sounds as though they are not going to sign a GM.

I know that Denver and Seattle each have coaches with the responsibilities of the GM as well, what are the situations in New England and Green Bay?

I agree... this sounds like a hoax to me... not like a professional.

I sent off a plea for a GM and let it be known that I might be the last of a dying breed if we don't start winning some games...

Actually, I've heard Snyder use that very excuse [other teams don't have GMs] as a defense for his personnel arrangements. It's a spurious defense, to say the least. Mike Sherman in Green Bay has control of all personnel issues. So does Belichick. Snyder is trying to convince people that the Redskins are run just like that. Of course they are not. New England might not have a GM, but it has a professional [Belichick] who acts as GM, in addition to his other duties. Here is the important point:

NONE OF THOSE TEAMS USE AN AMATEUR/OWNER AS GM!

That's the difference between teams like Green Bay or New England and the Redskins. And it is a very, very big difference.

I copied this reply from Karl Swanson to a fan about interviewing Rhodes on another board:

Not necessarily good news either for those hoping the interview of Rhodes is simply a ruse to get him to be our DC. I wrote a couple of messages to Swanson. The second was that I think most fans of the team do not appreciate Rhodes' merits as to being interviewed at all. It was in response to the form response he had saying no decisions were made.

I essentially just wrote that while we're glad there are no decisions made, part of the problem is it's hard for most fans to comprehend the merits of even bothering to do the interview.

His response was a simple:

"i believe you are correct when you say "most fans don't appreciate why the team would interview Rhodes."

This response tells me several things.

That a NUMBER of fans have sent messages against Rhodes. That he is seeing them. And, that despite the letters, the fans aren't the ones who are going to make this decision because by in large they don't appreciate what qualifications Rhodes does have. That the team does view him as a qualified candidate under whatever set of criteria it has decided to employ.

I think we kind of know and knew he is a candidate with a legitimate chance at the job here. I think we know now the team will decide this regardless of fan input which, again, may be a good thing or it may be a very bad one. I can't decide.

Adding to that...

Emailed Karl regarding hiring a GM... (provided this is legit)... got a pretty clear response that should end any speculation on this matter.

Karls' response:

"thanks for your thoughts, although at this time we have no plans to add a GM."

Enough said.
