Has former NBA star Charles Barkley, a famous Republican and friend to Rush Limbaugh, become a liberal? It does not seem possible and yet... Commentary on the Iowa caucuses last night leaked into the NBA game on TNT. During the halftime show, the studio crew riffed on politics, and analyst Charles Barkley started talking up John Edwards -- he’s even given Edwards money.
Ernie Johnson, the anchor, looked at Barkley and said: "Charles, I thought you were a Republican." (Barkley has talked about running for governor of Alabama as a Republican.)
Barkley's response: "That was before they started screwing all the poor people!" Uh, Chuck, you just noticed this recently??

Yeah, I'll take Barkley's opinion and file it under "I threw a guy through a plate glass window and also called all Philly fans racist because I have a big fat mouth" file. I'm pretty sure you had zero interest in his opinion when he called himself a Republican.

I do wonder, however, if he'll be a guest on Mr Limbaugh's radio program again. Doesn't look promising. Barkley was anti-drug before he was anti-Republican.
