There is so much to be sorted out in Free Agency this year that it is very difficult to determine what will happen in the draft. There are many big name players out there and if the Skins can get there hands on them it will determine the fate of this years draft. The biggest thing in the offseason is to take some of the big name DL (Sapp, Kearse, Wistrom) and then draft some DL to learn the ropes from these pro bowlers. Running backs will be there in the 2nd round. Also.....i never see any D2 football players listed in the mock drafts. There are some players out there playin D2 that can make an impact for a team in a later round pick....OK Ill shut up now.

Heh, well welcome to the site, Dave. We've got a RedskinsDave around here somewhere, so you two should get along real nice. Anyway, I'm honestly hoping we don't get the Pro Bowlers available. I want to pick up a few guys like Grant Winstrom, Robaire Smith, possibly Darrell Gardener, and then draft Kenechi Udeze. That'd give us a really solid line, but not overpriced.
I think we will get 1 big name for the line, a rookie, and a middle of the pack guy. With our new coaching I'm sure our numbers would jump tremendously over last year.
I am against the signing of Darrell Gardener. The only reason he played well for us was so that he could get a big contract and sit on his butt. Good thing Snyder saw past his charade. He has only caused Denver problems this year. Besides the fact that he has a bad back anyway.

Yeah, but I'm guessing we could get him for the same kind of contract we got him for last time.
If that's the case, then that's the only way I would have him. I don't like it when these players work hard for a big contract then do squat once they get it. Look at Stackhouse over with the Wiizards. Now that is ridiculous!

OMG, I seriously forgot Stackhouse was even on the team.

Stackhouse? There's a Stackhouse on the Wizards?

I agree with Odyn. Get a great player, a medium, but solid player and a rookie and let them work together.

I'm thinking our D line will be fixed in FA (by adding Kearse & Sapp/Gardner ... not my choices, just what I'm hearing). I hope we don't pass on Sean Taylor. I've never specifically seen him play, but I've heard he's the Ray Lewis at Saftey (think Mel Kiper says this, but don't hold that against me).

I hope we go after Grant Winstrom and Darrell Gardener, draft sean taylor, and trust gibbs to find us a running back

Robaire Smith of Tennessee, if they let him go, at DT!

in my opinion, the ideal situation would be to sure up the DLine in free agency(big names or not). Wistrom and Kearse could really wrk out. then draft Sean Taylor in the 1st, and Greg Jones in the 2nd, and the best Center available in the 3rd. personally, i'd like to have Steven Jackson as the franchise bck, but Taylor is too good to pass up.

maybe a lot of you guys forgot bu tthe skins do have brandon noble. martin chase played well, and then all they need is maybe a dt in the 3rd round, and a de in free agency. i heard the guy in miami ogunleye might be cut.

I think that the ideal line would be kearse, gardner, noble, and maybe udeze. Upshaw and Wynn as backups on the end, and maybe Udeze could beef up slightly to fill in at tackle once in a while and let Wynn and Upshaw come in.

Did Noble's injury end his career, I know there was talk of that when it happened but I have heard nothing more

I like signing Grant Wistrom to play right end, signing Robaire Smith or Sam Adams to play the middle of the line with one of our DT's(Noble, Gardner, Chase) and drafting Kenechi Udeze to play left end. Sounds like a solid line to me. Wistrom and Udeze speed rushing off the corners and 2 big men clogging the middle.

How about going after Ogunleye? He's an RFA and Miami is already 9.5 mil over the cap, so they most probably wouldn't match. 26 years old and 15 sacks last year, he's something to think about.

No. Not Gardner. We need good locker room guys. I think that the biggest name might be Smith or Wistrom out of the FA's. I'd love to see the Skins pick Sean Taylor as well, if they stay at no. 5. But if they move down, its unlikely. If they go with any big name FA's I think that one of the two linebackers will be cut. I just hope they don't get Brunell. Please! No!!!!!!
