and why?

I'm not a Steven Jackson fan, so i went with him. But i don't think he's really a viable canidate.

So after him it'd be Winslow. A TE takes away production from the #2 and #3 WR's. We have capable WR's, so i don't think our passing game needs another threat. If we are going to MAX protect, that means our TE is going to stay in and block a lot. I'm not going to pay that much to have him stay in and block.

I'm sure Winslow will be a fine TE, but I wouldn't pass up any of those other players for him. If they were all off the board, then yeah.

I don't want Kevin Jones. I don't see what everyone sees in him. I think Jackson is the better back and there are better backs in FA that would fit the offense.

Winslow, because we have needs that could and should be addressed far before drafting a TE with the #5 pick.

In my mind unless we trade down, get the best available D-lineman and acquire another pick, I wont be truely happy.

Winslow gives us a great athlete, but can't improve our team much because we still couldn't run or stop the run.

Winslow. We already have a great receiving corps, we don't need a TE.

Well i actually would like to see us get a TE,just not with the #5 pick lol.

I said Jackson.

You could make a case for anyone else on that list of having some sort of special ability. Jackson is a solid back, a good combination of speed and size... but at #5???, he just isn't special enough.

I know that's vague, but I'll try to use Kevin Jones to help explain. Now many sites have Jackson rated ahead of Jones. Jackson is the safer pick, because you know what you're gonna get with Jackson, his style translates very well to the NFL. Conversely, Kevin Jones is more the "boom or bust" type player. He could end up like Ladainlian or else like Trung. But at #5, you better at least have the potential to be a great player, and IMO Steven Jackson just doesn't.

I said Tommie Harris, only because I think he can be had a little lower in the draft. The other players, while not what we immediately need, are probably closer to appropriate value for the number 5 pick.

I think a good TE will be most beneficial for LC. We need a guy who can get down the seam and keep the FS attention. If we didn't have so many other glaring needs, I would take K2.

Truer words were never spoken.

Right on the money, KY!

I went with Jones. He is not at all the type of player we are looking for. We don't need his style of play for the Gibbs offense. He is a slasher and we already have that in Chad Morton. CMON GUYS!! I know most of you are VT fans, but there are better players, like Steven Jackson.

I picked Harris since I don't think he's worth the #5 pick, but that can be said of a few others on the list. I'm surprised to see Winslow getting a lot of votes since we all know how Gibbs uses the TE and this guy will hopefully add the element that Shockey gives the G-men (which doesn't take much away from their decent WR corps).

I voted for trade down but the truth is for the first time in a long t

sorry
time in a long time I trust the staff to make the right pick.

Whatever Gibbs wants he can have!

Winslow because he is too much of a head case to take a risk in the top 5 for him.

Winslow would be a waist of money....he would cry for the ball....too much. I think a safety or DL. I like picking up DUCE in FA, That would satisfy our RB needs.

5 is too high to take either or those backs, who most likely won't be able to contribute in the first couple of years

guinness4health

if there want to trade to snag one of the running backs ok, but make sure we pick up an extra 2 or 3rd to fill some of the gaps on the defensive line

i said jones. even though hes local hes not tough enough and gets hurt too much. at first i thought they should get kwII but now i can see them getting tommie harris or sean taylor. one of them will be available. i wouldnt really be too upset with anyone unless ints jones or udeze.

Really too hard to pick because we don't know what moves are going to be made in the FA market. So alot will depend on what we accomplish there. At this point though, Winslow, just because of his personality and outlook. Kid needs to grow up. .......... These kids from Miami - what the hell is up with them anyway? Something they feed them down there??

Bigskinsfan
02-04-2004, 09:16 AM
I think the knock of Winslow is BS. He is a passionate player with a passion for winning. The kid is like 20 years old. how mature do you want him to be. He will develop and mature into IMO one of the best if not the best TE in the league. He is not a crimminal or anything like that. Do you remember the things you did when you were in college or 20yrs old. Everyone should lighten up on him. I would be very happy with him or taylor at #5.

also picked winslow because i don't believe a tight end is worth a #5

I don't think any RB this year is worthy of the #5 pick...so put me down for both Jones and Jackson.

Aside from them..I'd prefer to NOT take Harris that high. I think he can be taken much later.

This is about the #5 pick. Taking any rb this year 5 is RIDICULOUS. Some of you VT fans are happy saying that this would be a "good" pick. But cmon folks, ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!

SkinsCT

Harris. I don't like his game, he reminds me of Robertson for the Jets, who didn't do crap this year. If we were the Cardinals and could wait a while I would draft him but I think we could make the playoffs next year. I don't know why everyone is hating on Winslow. I wouldn't be upset at all if they went after him.

I agree with you guys on Winslow. We have great receivers already but my first pick at 5 would not be a defensive lineman. Trade down, get extra picks then go after your defensive lineman like a Starks if he is still on the board.

Kevin Jones and kellen winslow would piss me off the most
kevin jones is a straight up softy and winslow wouldnt be very beneficial to our offense

no matter what i want sean taylor for that 5th pick
if champ gets sent outa washinton we should either get kenechi or stephen

btw this site is awesom

taking any RB with the #5 pick would make me a ravens fan

I chose KW2. Gibbs uses an H-back more often in the passing game than a true tightend. Also, solid TE's will be found in the later rounds...one's that can catch AND block...i.e. Ben Hartsock and Kris Wilson.

Odyn
02-09-2004, 02:45 PM
I think KW2's blocking skillz are highly underated. He is one of the best in college and that will definitely cross over into the pro's. He is pretty much a safe pick whereas some of the players you guys are mentioning would be bigger risks.

tommie harris Remember Bob Slate?

Tommie Harris: because his 34 tackles and four sacks are not near worthy of the fat contract we would have to give him.

I went with Kevin Jones. He is a great back but not the type Gibbs likes to use. Plus our D-line is the worst in the league. Trade down and pick up an extra 2nd.

Steve Jackson would piss me off

RedskinRyan
02-17-2004, 03:22 PM
winslow is too good for our system, and prolly wouldnt be used well, and will want out. next is sean taylor, as i think we are fine at safety. if we get what we need in free agency, then i say pounce on him.

This is not a very good draft for RBs. To one degree or another, everybody's hit or miss. I say Kevin Jones, because he's more hit-or-miss than Jackson.
