I don't know how many of you saw it tonight. But they interviewed Arrington, Bailey and Coles about Gibbs.

Arrington said he was excited the Gibbs was back and he thinks a level of accountability will be there. He also said that he thinks that Champ will be back and will be signed immediatly during FA.

Champ said he's followed Gibbs and he understands what he means as a coach. But what worried me is that he said he is going to name a salary that he wants if he doesn't get it, then he'll look elsewhere.

Coles said he thinks things will get done and that things will be much more stricter then they were under Spurrier.

Afterwards they talked about the Skins with Sean Salisbury and Mark Schlereth. Salisbury said he believes that the Skins will resign Champ and that with Champ he'll guarentee that the Skins will win 10 games and be in the playoffs next season. He also took a shot at Spurrier saying that Gibbs will get in the players faces and demand accountability, he isn't like Spurrier who will duck and run away. Schlereth again echoed the statement that Champ needs to be resigned and that he has no doubts that Danial Snyder will get that done and that the Skins have to expect to overpay a little bit for Champ but because he is so young it is worth it.

Also one funny note is that Mark Schlereth admitted that when he was a Pro Bowl O-Lineman for the Redskins that he allowed the AFC to get a few Sacks on Aikman who was then QBing for the Cowboys just because he was a Cowboy and didn't want to block for him.

Thats basically it.

I think that's hilarious and speaks to how far the rivalry used to go. Even when the game didn't matter, He didn't want to block for him. I like that.

Hey, sounds good to me. I like the bit about Aikman, too.

I would like us to keep Champ too. I know we will have to pay for him but he quietly gets his job done. No cornerback is perfect. No player is perfect. I just want to see what he is gonna ask for,......... and is he gonna demand the same from a "new" team.

We could have afforded S. Davis for the price that Carolina paid him, but he wasn't offered any kind of deal and he knew SS didn't want him anyway.

:spin: :spin: :spin:

MUCH happier hearing this ... thats the right stuff out of Lavar

(I think if Champ doesn't want to play for the Skins for whatever reason ... especially salary ... then the last guy the Skins should want playing for them is Champ)

Unfortunately , if Champ gets franchised, he won't have the option of looking elsewhere.

I love Mark Schlereth... Even though he became a Bronco later in his career he still always was proud to be a redskin and always stuck up for us... Not like that POS Matt Millen!

Well folks...we just witnessed the first "ultimatim" from Champ to the Front Office. Take it or leave it. His way or the highway. It will be interesting to see exactly what that "price" is.

You would think with Gibbs in town that Champ would at least be up to negotiations...

I believe that Champ is gone. He is not a Redskin in his own mind so how do you think that puts him in Gibbs mind. Champ has drawn the line in the sand and basically stated that he is a mercenary. The same kind as Deion and Bruce Smith, and we didn't win with either of them.

Champ will be franchised regardless of what Salisbury and Schlereth think. They are not cap experts so I guess they think we can afford 2....thats TWO 60 million dollar contracts for 2 defensive guys who were already here and part of a 5-11 team.

If we can be 5-11 with 120 million dollars worth of Lavar and Champ..........I guess we couldn't probably spare Champ the embarassment of working for only 50 million. Okay Champ, you're franchised.....now go negotiate with somebody else.

When I heard Mark say that, I yelled "YES" and then said "Once a Hog, always a Hog." :)

IMO Champ has made his demands perfectly clear thoroughout the year. His play and lack thereof demonstrates that he is NOT worth what we initially offered, let alone what he & his agent think he's worth. He's not the "shutdown" corner everbody claims he is and his tackling is a half a step better tha Deion's. Which is not that good. Keep Champs money take the picks rebuild the D-line as best we can this year sign 2 decent CB's and just move on. Champ is not a Skin.

I'm not so quick to let him out of mine. I cannot forget what he said a couple of months ago.

10, not sure exactly what your referring to but agree all this guy has done is badmouth the Skins the last 2 or 3 years, often acting reluctant to admit he even was a Redskin! Broncos this~Broncos that. It is kinda funny the about-face Mark has made.

jon and rskinsfan10, i hear ya. his comment has let him take one step outta of my doghouse, but he has ignored the skins and badmouthed them too much to the point that he needs to kiss up a little bit more for him to be free!

If Bailey takes the hard line with us that's fine with me.

We will tade him for a 1st and 3rd rounder and load up on picks from someone.

If we can get the pass rush to be strong again, we can put mickey mouse back there and he'd look great.

Lots of corners in FA, too much supply it's a buyers market. With the me, me attitude....later Champ lets get Troy Vincent or somebody with a nasty attitiude. Champ doesn't have as much respect from players around the league as he thinks he does. Later...
