View Full Version : This team is STILL full of surprises!

Brunell possibly coming to the Skins? If it does happen, we give up a 2nd round draft pick. Okay, but we still need a couple of defensive linemen, and a safety....and its tough to fill slots with only 1 really decent draft pick.
Oh, what about Champ Bailey. Oh yea, don't we have him in the wings, dangling as trade bait after we franchise him? Well, now, lets see, we lose a 2nd round pick, but we trade Champ for a 1st and a 3rd.
Then we make the trade with Houston, and we get their 1st and 2nd so they can move up and get Sean Taylor..........and before you know it we have Brunell, two 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick, and two 3rd round picks.....5 picks to get 2 defensive linemen, a safety who can cover, a running back, and another corner.
Does anybody else see this as a possible scenario with the latest news flash concerning Brunell? This team is just full of surprises in the new year.....and to be honest....change is good....because I didn't like being 5-11.

We can do all of that without giving up our 2nd round pick for Brunell. You really made it sound good though Real..... I heard the trumpets playing and everything.

The only thing I see as certain is that if we do trade for Brunell, it won't be for the #5 pick in the draft and we will trade down from the #5 to gain additional picks lost in the effort to acquire Brunell.

All speculation. Just like you asked us in the Brunell thread, I'm asking you now. Did you talk to Vinny? Who said there was going to be a trade with Houston

So we kiss away Sean Taylor, Udeze, or Winslow for Mark Brunell? That's what this essentially is. To get back the second round pick that we lose we miss out on those players??
No, please.
With two first round picks, we have to sign them. We still have massive gaps on the D-line and without Champ our D is going to look crazy different.
I have 3 major problems:
1) money- we need to sign some FA D-linemen and do something with Champ. Brunell will not be cheap.
2) Giving up a pretty high second rounder.
3) Capable players are out there. Griese would be a nice alternative.
Sorry, i know this post isn't really about this, but i can't get over this possibility.
I can see the skins moving around like that to pick up picks, but they would be relying on the draft to fill in too many holes. Giving up Bailey to get two picks and pray that you can find someone who is only 2 levels below Champ. It's crazy to create holes and try to fill them in the draft.
RR- i can see where you are going with this and it wouldn't surprise me if it's true... i just hope it's not,
:)

I think of all the moves needed to be made, Champ Bailey needs a contract here in Washington and then we worry about defensive line and then QB. But then again it is had to second guess the great Joe Gibbs, I know it is for me anyway. He was brought in to right the ship, let him do it his way

What if Champ was included in this possible trade? He would be about 45 minutes from his hometown and family and friends.
Would any of you like this trade possiblity better if we give Champ and receive Brunnel and draft picks?

Like someone said, this is all speculation, but who here thinks any D-lineman in the 6th or 7th round will be starting material??? (or even an improvement over what we have)
Maybe around that time we could pick up Clarett :P

You are working under the assumption that the Skins hadn't planned to trade down with or without a deal for Brunell. We only have four picks, so a trade down could be a realistic possibilty anyways. I don't think it's fair to say that if one of those guys aren't drafted by the Skins because of where we may wind up picking is due to Brunell being here.

I see what you are saying Kenny, but I believe that in trading down we'll pick up a second round pick.
We are reportedly giving up a second round pick for Brunell.
So we can either have our picks at #5 and #41 and choose to trade down for an extra second if we want.
or
We trade for Brunell and have a #5 that we'll likely trade down because we only have 3 picks.
Instead of trading down from #5 to recoup our second round pick, we could just not make the trade.

I just hope that this is a smoke screen to get other teams to jump on him so that they are occupied elsewhere while we go after the men we want. I think we can win 10 games with Ramsey. Brunell isn't worth it. Especially for a second rounder. The man is 33.

No hail2skins....but what I did do was set up a scenerio and asked a simple question to anyone who would replay. The question was, in case you skipped over my post, " does anybody else see this as a possible scenario with the latest news flash concerning Brunell".
In other words, I didn't start a rumor, I simply combined all of the already aforementioned scenarios on various threads in order to see if there was an overall grand plan developing in your opinions.
I don't think this thread deserves your smart ass replay and apparently nobody else does either according to their replies.

Evidently you didn't get my point. So let me spell it out for you. We were discussing the possibility of Brunell's signing and the impact it would have the team. That's what we do here. You then came in about people whining about the affect it would have on Ramsey and his confidence. You asked if we spoke to Ramsey in reference to his confidence or did someone else tell us. You then come in here and express your opinion in reference to the possible signing of Brunell and the impact it would have on our team. So why are our opinions on the signing of Brunell and it's impact whining? We're entitled to our opinion like you're entitled to yours. No one called you a whiner did they? No, so don't do it to others.
AS far as a rumor goes none of us started one either so I don't know where that is coming from.
As far as my reply goes, others probably didn't respond to it because it was directed to you. Did you notice the quote.
Any further discussion on this between you and I should be done via PM's. Thank you.
