View Full Version : Champ is gone

If the Skins bring in MB to play QB for draft picks, I think that means a number of things:

1. Champ is gone. the Skins would not bring in salary and then sign Champ. That leaves little cap room, if any. I bet the Skins already have a trade in place for Champ after they franchise him. I think that team is Atlanta.

2. We will trade out of the #5 pick. That means no Taylor winslow or Harris. However, this pick is said to be valuable because teams will want those players, especially Taylor.

3. We will have at least 5 picks in this draft. With the trade out of #5 and the trade of Champ, the Skins will be players on draft day.

Anyway, thats the way I see it.

Why wouldn't we resign Champ, Brunell won't cost us much, and we will pick up about 6.5 mil when Bruce is cut.

At this point that's the way it look like to me too. We have too many holes to fill with just 4 picks and highly paid malcontents on the roster. Champ made his intentions clear to the organization last year and now he'll get his wish.

maybe there is some truth to the NE rumor. 2 firsts and 2 seconds in a trade. I thought I heard this rumor but it may have been my mind, it is about as sharp as a dodgeball :D:D

He is not going to be cheap. We are trying to out bid 4 other teams (all more desperate than us) for a QB who thinks he can start. And in a trade, we're gonna lost our 2nd rounder.

San Diego has a higher 2nd than we do. Hopefully they out bid us. That would give them them Fitz (probably) and Brunell. THat would be okay for them, but I really, really hope Brunell isn't on this team.

The Chargers would definitely trade the #1 if they got Brunell. They have no need for a WR right now.

I think Gibbs has already made his mind up about Champ. Champ has already said he wants to be the highest paid CB in footaball. He isn't saying it in so many words but he is giving huge hints. Gibbs will not think he's worth the money. You just dont tell Gibbs what you are worth and think you are going to get it. Gibbs knows he can get a 1 and possibly a 3 for him on draft day. I think the day has come were owners are not going to be forking out big bucks like they use to. I also look at him going to Atlanta just because Gibbs has ties there.

Don't forget about Gallary at #1 if they do get Brunell. They do need Offensive Line help.

Your ideas totally suck and dont make any sense. Champ (the best corner in the league, ty law dont got shit for him) isnt going anywhere. Brunell wont cost crap!

This is the only thing I agree with in your post Rfan28. I am really starting to love the speculation of the fans on this site. If Dan et al have proven anything over the past several years its that they can do a pretty good job of making the right deals when needed. But this is the offseason and what else do we have to talk about.

i dont see it that way. i think gregg williams will be a big champ supporter and all parties will have to listen to the guy who will be running the D. williams needs good cover CBs and champ is one of the best. plus, if franchised, his one year salary will be almost as much as bruce smith's old salary, plus other sources are speculating that we will be cutting guys like armstead, canidate, trotter.....i also think we will almost certainly be trading with NE for at least their 2 first rounders in order to make up for a possible loss of our 2nd rounder for brunell.
