later rounds:te or rb based on what u get in round 2. punter
free agency:
jeff blake
kearse/robarie smith- either one would be great
duece staley
center
punter
release the following players:
trotter
armstead
barker
pat johnson
flemister (please!!!!)
trung
resign:
champ- get that cap expert to work on his contract so it doesnt hurt us till 2007 like he did with lc
mccants-give him the #2 job
kevin mitchell

First off Vilma will not last til 40. He is already being predicted to go #12 to the Jets by a lot of experts. You also have us releasing 2/3rds of our starting LBs which has been one of the lone strengths of the defense the last 2 years. Trotter is only a year removed from major knee surgery and led the team in tackles last season. There is no reason to let him go. Until you have a capable starter to step in for Armstead you cannot release him. He is still the most disciplined linebacker of the trio and rarely misses an assignment. Patrick Johnson was good on Special teams and if you plan on trading Jacobs or Gardner you are going to need to keep him at reciever because there will be no one to play in the slot. I also don't like the idea of releasing Barker without having another punter signed. There are very few FA punters available so the best bet is to keep Barker and bring him back to compete with 1 or 2 young guys we get as an undrafted FA. I believe we only have 4 draft picks in the draft and you can't afford to burn one on a punter or a luxery position like Safety. All picks should be used on productive players they fill immediate needs for this team atleast 2 DL, RB, and TE. I don't understand why you trade Jacobs. He has only played one season and we still haven't seen what he can do. He also has little to no trade value because no one in the league has really seen him play a substantial amount in the NFL.

Yeah firqst of all we should definitely not resign champ. The two first rounders would be much more valuable
With one of those picks in this draft we could then get sean taylor and kenechi. We could prob. trade gardner for a late first rounder and get a stud rb like Greg Jones with it. 2nd round we should get a good DT. 3rd round, best blocking tight end.
Keep Jacobs.
And Johnson
Get rid of trung
Flemister
I think your best ideas were to get Jeff Blake and to resign Mccants and give him a chance at the number 2 spot
also getting duce would not be a bad idea

We will not get two first rounders for Champ. This has been discussed over and over again. The market for Corners is too large for any team to be willing to give up 2 first rounders. The best we could hope for was a 1st and a 2nd rounder and those picks are not worth giving up a starting corner and having to rely on Bauman and Jimoh as our 2 other corners along with Smoot.
I hope Champ sees that he is not worth the money that he thinks he is.
And never say that we won't get two firsts for Champ. Stupider things have been done in the offseason!

Ok, here goes some ideas....
1. Trade Champ Bailey to Atlanta for their 1st and 2nd round picks.
2. Draft Sean Taylor #5.
3. Trade #7 down to Houston for their 1st and 2nd round picks.
4. Draft Udeze #10.
5. (Suprise) Package Rod Gardner, Trung Candidate, and #38 pick to the 49ers for their #16 pick. Draft DeAngelo Hall.
6. Draft Greg Jones or possibly Chris Perry #41.
7. Draft Ben Watson #42.
8. Through FA, get Jevon Kearse, Darryl Gardner, and Duce Staley.
9. Sign Darrel Green as a defensive secondary consultant.

That's not gonna happen. The 49ers are not gonna get rid of their first round pick for Rod Gardner. If they want a WR in the first round they'll draft one. Plus Houston wanna trade up FOR Sean Taylor so I'm guessing they won't take that trade. Greg Jones isn't droping to the 2nd round either...

Swap the #5 to Houston, then draft perhaps Starks and Udeze, #7 and #10? Or possibly Udeze and Steven Jackson? Anyways, just some thoughts.
