Worst Snyder Move: RFK --> FedEx
I'm afraid it was not his action. He just renamed Jack Kent Cooke Stadium into Fedex Field thanks to a lot of $$$$$

Er...I think what he meant Seebers, is when we moved from RFK to the new stadium, which FedEx bought the rights to name. The new stadium doesn't have the same vibe as the old...although I do enjoy the many bathrooms they now have for women....:D

My point was just that Snyder is not the owner who made the move from RFK to Fedex-JKC Stadium.

Umm i didn't look at the other posts but i've been a skins fan since i saw my first game on tv so prolly like 3. I have all the superbowl wins on tape and the reason for my name is because i always thought that *sigh* antonio pierce was the x-factor for our D :'(.
I live in topeka, kansas. I've been playing football since i was in 7th grade and currently i am a sophmore in high school starting on the varisity team at TE (maybe gibbs could use me! lol).
I'm really, really good at madden so if anybody wants to play me online or something hit me up at TheBig_Dub@yahoo.com. FAVORITE TEAMS ONLY THOUGH, even if it HAS to be the cowgirls lol.
I spend most of my free time either playing madden, hangin with my buds, or playing sports. I do sports all year round pretty much i play football, bball, and track. Then i have a summer team for bball, although football is by far my favorite sport.
If anyone else wants more info about me just ask in an email or something.

thanks! haha, i know, it is strongly reminiscent of that penalty in the first dallas game last season when it was CLEARLY offensive pass interference, but was called against us instead. IMO he should have gotten in trouble just for wearing the coat, but i guess i'm a little biased. :) thanks for the welcome!

I'm actually a former MOD over at TheHogs.net. That's where my Avatar is from. Gave up my MOD duties because I started a capital murder trial in March...and didn't have enough time on my hands to do a good job as a MOD. Now, I'm just a "humble" poster on that site....as well as, now, on this site.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I remember (too often) when my father would get so mad that he would throw a pillow at the TV, stomp over and hit the OFF button after the skins would be throw an INT or such; but then a few minutes later he would turn the TV back on as he couldn't stand to not watch them play.
Actually, I'm so old that I remember listening to the skins on the radio before we had TV.

A little bit about the newby.... LOL
My name is marshall and i am from alexandria. I am a recent cancer survivor. Had to overcome alot of odds to be here, but im thrilled to say the least. I know im only 20 but my fiance has stuck with me through it all, and as soon as i get my degree and first job i am going to give her the biggest, most memorable wedding.
I am an avid skins and wizards fan and have also adopted the nationals. In 6 months i look forward to my body being fully ready to return to the boxing ring. I want nothing more then a skins super bowl, and as you can tell from the screen name i am really pulling for santanna moss. I always love meeting new skins fans and if theres ever a get together with people from the site i would love to go. Hail to the redskins! And to the males on this site... i would be doing a disservice to you all if i didnt encourage you to see a doctor at the first signs of urinary discomfort. I thought it was impossible for me to get cancer in my prostate, and spread on top of that. Early detection is key and it is always better to be safe than sorry. The only thing more upsetting then the memories of me having cancer, is to hear about another fellow fan getting it. So just stay on your p's and q's fellas.

I think you folks call it 'downsizing'. Losing your jiob because of changes in the company. Losing your job by no fault of your own, not being sacked/fired.

Why is it that overseas, you guys have the coolest terminology when it comes to words that seem plain? I mean, to be sacked. Most people would say fired, but to say you were sacked? That means to me, that someone laid war to somebody. Kind of reminds me to the beginning of Python's Holy Grail. Sorry to hear about the sacking, but welcome to hR though.

Loved to watch the old Redskins. At the time, they seemed so old to me that I wondered how they were able to beat Dallas and the other teams because i remember them coming to training camp to get into shape and that Billy and Sonny both had beer guts during training camp. Anyway, they proved that all it takes is heart.:)

Thanks, AGibbsGirl!
I'm not good enough for SCAD. I first dropped out of the Commercial Art program at the American College (now pretentiously renamed American Intercontinental University, but still located across the street from Lenox Mall), then dropped out of a photography school which has since become Creative Circus. Obviously I'm not making any money with my lame-ass art, or I wouldn't be sitting in this cubicle right now. :)

I watched for a while before really choosing a team and getting into it, then just kind of found myself drawn to the 'Skins. The hard hitting D and explosive players lyk Santana and CP on O are everything I love about football really. Also thers so many high character guys and great personalities throughout the team.

AGibbsGirl,
Thank you for the welcome, having a great time so far. Yeah, the wife lets me up for some air every once in a while :D
She also is starting to love the Skins so it's all good.
Monte was just such a class act and always had a smile on his face like he was actually having some fun out there. I got to meet him a few times in Reston many many years ago.

Glad I could be of some laugh service. Hope it wasn't too loud that your Boss or someone threw a ''quiet down" at ya.
@ The Drinking Outrage.
"Well Mother I'm gonna be 21 next year. Drinking now helps me get used to it so I don't go nuts on my birthday, And drink till I get alcohol poisoining…Alright I still will but that sounded like a good excuse for a second didn't it."
Nice to meet you though.

Nice to meet you though. There's no sense in drinking on your 21st birthday if you don't expect to pass out, go to the ER, or leave your store unlocked and opened in the mall all night, while you and your co-workers get drunk at Chi Chi's...nice to meet you too!

I've yet to experience passing out, though I've almost been knocked out multiple times. I assume it's like that without the being hit by, or hitting something. I made it out of all my E.R stints so I don't have a bad perception of that either yet. Now this Chi Chi's, I'm not sure what it is. But when I find out, I'll think of you.

* I get asked a lot, how in the world I came to be a Redskins fan, in Colorado. The discussion about the Larry's in the Cherokee forum and specifically this quote from Joethefan gives it some context:we could be down 31-0, with two minutes left and he'll say..."the Redskins do have time to win this game"...LOL
There are just so many of these types in Colorado. From media guys to kids on the street, to the parents of the kids next door. I hated that all-out stupid homerism.
I was 15 in 1987 and already didn't like the Bronco fans. The build up to SB XXVII made me a Skins fan, for life.
That fall, I'd made a pre-season prediction in the school paper that the SB would be the Redskins over the Browns. The Broncos had just been embarassed by the Giants in SB XXI, so their fans were ripe for hating anyone that didn't have them back in the big game again the next year. That entire year, I was a target of my peers, their dads, my neighbors and all the older dudes I worked with after school.
Given that I was actually only 1 freak fumble away from nailing that prediction... all those blue-bloods just ramped up the intensity of their ridicule for me (a 15 year old), in the two weeks before the game... I think I held my own.
Some of the highlights from those arguments, that I remember-
Them: "Sammy Winder is gonna Mississippi Mudwalk right over Dave Butz' Butt!"
Me: Winder averages less than 3.0 a carry against AFC west opponents!
Them: "Elway is GOD!"
Me: He won't be able scramble outside on Manley and Charles Mann.
Them: "Clarence Kay and Orson Mobley are two of the biggest baddest TE's in the league, they are going to Kill Manley and Mann."
Me: You're nuts.
Them: "Put your $$ where your mouth is, little man!"
Me: "Um... ok. $5?"
Them: "Come on, Kid!! Be a man, $20!"
I had bets with about 15 guys (some a lot older, some my age)... I don't know how I was gonna pay, if I lost.
First Qtr of SB XXII - my gramma's phone was ringing off the hook
First play of 2nd Qtr (80 yard TD to Ricky Sanders), the house was silent, but for my laughing and yelling.
None of the same guys who called me would answer their phones throughout the rest of the day.
And no... I never did get paid by most of those fools either, but I don't care.
Hail Redskins.

It is a great game! Are your boys still in college playing, or have they moved on to men's clubs in the area?

It is a great game! Are your boys still in college playing, or have they moved on to men's clubs in the area?My sons are 16 & 18 Both have played in the U19 divisions in MD and VA for the past 7 years, also with the Rugby Academy in DC, and on various select teams in MARFU and PRU/VRU.
My husband played with the Frederick, MD men's club back in the 1990's and became a coach when they boys started playing. He led their team to the VA State U19 Div I championship in 2009.
My oldest son is at JMU but didn't play Rugby his first year because he's on an ROTC scholarship and well, we didn't want him to get hurt...which he actually did anyway playing in a game this past spring. He broke his leg, thankfully PT was done for the year!
But Mom is the one that started the Rugby craze in our family. I was actually one of the team managers for our HS Rugby team back in the mid-80's. Imagine that huh? :D
Do you still play? What team did you play for?

Nice family line!! I wish my high school had been affiliated with a club back in the 80's.
Rugby Academy is making a lot of news lately, aren't they?. Love that you are so involved! More families could benefit from rugby, I think.
I hope USA Rugby can pull their heads out and team up with the USCRA. College clubs going varsity is where the game needs to grow the most... and in youth camps, of course, but that's tougher funding; And can be better achieved with grass-roots efforts anyway; grabs attention of grittier sports lovers.
I started my "career" late (when I turned 30) with a Denver Barbarians developmental squad. Played with the Hartford Wanderers in '06-'07. Was asked by the ex wife to cut back (which is basically a retirement from playing... you can't play if you aren't practicing... it's not softball at all, you know). I've been running around socially with the Providence men's club this summer. Doubt I will play competitively again. I don't have time to get into the gym properly.
You should let me know if your boys ever travel for matches or tourneys north of Jersey.

AGREED! There really needs to be much more support at the college level. There are almost no colleges that offer any type of scholarship for Rugby, therefore the kids will leave the sport to focus on other "paying" sports during their senior year. We lose a lot of talent. And with it now being back in the Olympics (Although, I must confess, I am one of the few that prefer 15's over 7's) we need to deepen that pool of talent.
Also, being from the East, we tend to think that the East coast clubs are vastly overlooked by USA Rugby, (Although my husband has manged to get 2 kids from his clubs on to the International U19 team) and with Gonzaga being a power house, we're hoping that the Academy will help us get more exposure.
Loads of talented kids who LOVE the sport out here. And we are slowly getting the Football coaches to buy into it as a great spring conditioning sport.
I let you know if we come your way next spring-CHEERS!
