Dean bows out. Word from his camp is he finally tired of the taste of his own shoe leather.

He's suspending his campaign, but won't take his name of the ballot in states. The announcement should be made at about 1 PM Eastern time in Burlington, VT.

This pleases me. Dean did a great service to the Democratic party and the country. He gave Dems back their spine and he has pioneered an incredible new way to raise large amounts of money in small increments from many people. He had some brilliant ideas, but simply does not have the stature or the temperament to be a good candidate in the fall. John Kerry and John Edwards have learned from Howard Dean and are stronger for it.
