According to NFL.com, Kenechi Udeze’s agent has reportedly said that his client should be expected to run the 40 in the 4.6 range. If he indeed does run that time at his size, does that officially spell the end of the Sean Taylor talk, or at least cement him as one of our first round picks?
I would say yes: 6`4, ~285 lbs., 4.6 40, what more could you want?

Those are Jevon Kearse-type stats. Freakish.

How many 40 yard dashes do guys run in games. I would be more interested in is 10 yard dash time.

Why should Sean Taylor be our first priority???
Unless Taylor intends on gaining atleast a 100 pounds and playing DL he's not our first priority.

ummm no. He is. Shaggy your obsessed with d line. There's always free agents. Talent like Taylor has is rare and since we need a safety like him anyways to me this is a no brainer. We'll probably get a pick or two for champ that we can use for Dline. Plus, I bet snyder will pull a big name from FA. So we'll be good. And our d line will be great if we continue to draft d line high next year.

I think Udeze will be a good player in the league. Maybe in Green Bay's KGB mold type of player. Athletic skills mean some to D-Lineman, but to me the best thing to measure a D-Lineman by is their motor. How much can they keep coming all out.
Look at Courtney Brown, remember him? They guy drafted ahead of LaVar and Samuels. He put up awesome 225 bench and 40 yd time #'s and everyone said he was going to be sick. Well Cleveland is sick with him, I hear he might be released this offseason.
I'm not saying by anymeans Udeze = Brown but I did not see any of USC's games this year to see him play, so I don't know what kind of motor he has to go with those physical gifts.

I'm liking Udeze the more I hear about him. Our current safteys weren't responsible for all of our losses last year, but our D-Line ... that's another story. I'd be happy going into the season w/ Iffy and Bowen. We NEED a young DE stud to go along w/ some FA additions. Does anyone know which side this guy plays on? I'm just wondering if Kearse plays the same side.
Now - not to throw a wrench into this discussion, but anyone worried that our staff (wait - our owner) will get enamored with Mike Williams of USC and want to get him instead???

Kearse usually plays the speed-rushing RDE spot.
Kenechi can play either side. He's getting better and better against the run. Infact, I hope he does play LDE for the skins, so that Wynn can go keep the bench warm.

I agree with you as far as hearing mor and more positive talk about Udeze. I also agree with you assesment of our current safeties.

I think that Mike Williams is making everyone in the top 10 rethink their draft boards.

if we trade gardner, we might just go after williams or fitzgerald

I'm pretty sure Udeze was an every-down guy for USC, and with 16.5 sacks he must have a good motor.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he was as well. I think if we got both Taylor and Udeze, well, wow.

It kind of makes you think of Dexter the quarterback Molester Manley. I don't believe we've had a decent DE since he left.:banghead:

Udeze is a much more all around DE than KGB. KGB isn't very physical and has a lot of trouble holding his ground against the run.
IMO Brown isn't nearly as bad as everyone says. His stats:
Tackles
Year Total Solo Asst TFL Sack Yds Press Hits Int Yds PBU FF RF S
2000 85 56 29 0 4.5 22.5 25 0 0 9 0 0
2001 19 17 2 0 4.5 38.5 9 0 0 3 1 2
2002 41 31 10 2 2 10 12 8 0 0 6 1 2 0
2003 60 29 27 4 6 33 13 26 0 0 3 4 1 0
Yes, he has been hurt a good bit but the talent is still there and he is only 26 years old. He also took a pay cut to free up money because he thought he wasn't playing up to his potential. 85 tackles at the DE spot is very good and even 60 is in the top 25% of starting DE's. Maybe he won't ever have awsome sack numbers but I think 8 or 9 is within his reach. Also, last year before he got hurt, he was playing like a solid DE. If the Browns do let him go I personally would like for us to try to go out and get him.
I may be a little biased though, I personally know him and he is a great guy.
