It was announced yesterday that five British Citizens will be released home soon from Camp X-Ray. They have been held for two years as enemy combatants without legal representation and in conditions that are borderline human rights violations.

Our home secretary has said that these men pose no threat to our national security which begs the question, why has it taken two years to find this out?

Our Police and Intelligence forces are currently looking into seeking information on whether they can be tried under our law. The problem with this is that any evidence gathered by the U.S Military will be in-admissable in our courts because these men were not given proper legal representation. This means that if these are dangerous men it will be virtually impossible to try them in our courts as over two years has passed and getting evidence against them is going too be difficult. It also appears that these men have been co-operative with their captors, whilst the four remaining British prisoners have not and will continue too be held.

Is it right that all the Camp X-Ray prisoners have effectively been cut off from any contact with the outside world?

Personally I think the U.S military and Government have acted very badly in this situation.

Why did they trample on the Geneva convention in their treatment of Prisoners of War? Labelling them enemy combatants is no justification for allowing them no contact with the outside world and putting them through a regime that dare I say it, Saddam would be proud off.

Also by being so secretive about Camp X-Ray have they made prosecution of any of the POW's impossible?

Finally, if it is proved that these men are innocent of any war crime, should they be entitled too take recourse against the US government.

Also as an aside how did the US come to have a military base in a country it has imposed sanctions on for over 40 years? Can someone fill me in on the history.

If you want those guys, you can have them. I'd keep an eye on them around airports though.

I know nothing of Camp X-ray. I don't think it exists. It's all propoganda from overseas.
