Just thought I'd spice it up a little on this lonely Friday night. This is what I found on a Cincinatti Bengals fan board off of ESPN.com.
Anyone heard anything?? I don't even have a resource to offer here, but its fun to talk about.
Hey guys, just wanted to post what I saw over on teh Ravens board. More stuff from that scout on the other website. This is VERY VERY interesting...
San Diego officials as well as Cincinnati officials accompanied Washington officials into a private meeting in room 215. Something is about to happen. Officials from all three teams have been talking all morning. Washington officials I have spoken to said they are close to several moves within the next few days. Dillon to Washington? Ramsey to Chargers? Bailey to Cincinnati? Who the hell knows, but like I said they went into a private meeting. Once I complete my scouting I will be in search of Paul Brown Jr. to gather details. Josh your wish may just come true in watchign Bailey be reunited with Lewis. I'll keep you posted when I no more.
and a bit later
Brief update; Paul Brown Jr. elaborated to me that in conversation with Washington certain trade parameters came out in the open. Washington liked the discussion and said they will be making a decision this coming week on Bailey's future. Paul Brown Jr. reiterated to me that several teams are pursuing Bailey and that everyday another team seems to get involved. He said Washington is well aware of the Bengals interest and that they are aware of our parameters as well. I did have a few moments to speak with Chuck Benson of the Chargers and he said San Diego would be extremely interested in obtaining Patrick Ramsey. On a side note he said these three teams have been in touch with San Diego concerning the first overall pick:
New England
Philadelphia
Baltimore

Thanks rhummer. Interesting info...
I question this guys sources. [why would a owner tell this guy and then post on a MB?] Could be on the up and up. You just never know these days.
On a side note, its kinda funny seeing the Eagles looking to obtain the #1 overall pick. Everyone knows they don't spend big bucks. Who would they want? I think theres little doubt who they would be after. Fitzgerald....

The Eagles have been saving up too long, its going to hurt us eventually. Don't they have like the 5th most cap space in the league?? Pretty bad for the Bills of the Conference game.

I would love to see all of the wheeling and dealing that must be going on.

I think it'll take the eagles really tanking during the season before they'll come off the money. As long as they keep winning with the way they do business, they'll keep it up.

Philadelphia would move up to #1 and grab Fitzgerald. Oh my goodness, that would be very scary. On our end, are we talking only about Bailey or maybe about moving up ourselves?

Remember, I don't know how their connects are now but both organizations have ties to Snyder: M. Lewis of Cincy and M. Schot of SD.

Oh God... Ramsey to San Diego? Aaaaagh... Keep him! Why are we creating holes for ourselves?

It all depends what we get for Ramsey. I don't think you turn your back on a deal that makes you better. For example, what if San Diego offered their #1 for Ramsey and our #2. Ramsey has proven he can play in the NFL and has great potential. At this point, Manning and Big Ben just have potential....and San Diego has been burnt so many times drafting and not drafting quarterbacks that they would rather have a sure thing. That's why they were interested in Brunell.
And I have been wondering if Bailey has not been dangled in front of Cincy for Dillon and picks. Joe and Danny did not want to risk losing Brunell and they may take the same approach with Dillon.
Interesting stuff from the post but I also question any owner sharing information from a meeting and draft choices with a fan....

I asked him about it being valid last night and this is what he told me:
Validity? screw that....it's a real NFL scout, posts on sportsumrumormill.com and if you really want to be dedicated his number is #4569...and he posts under Beatcatmania04 on the site. he is nothing but a professional...if i didn;t trust him i wouldn't post.
Could be interesting

Uh ... Ramsey for the #1 overall pick???? I know you said FOR EXAMPLE, but I don't see that happening. If it did, I agree we can't pass that up (even though we all love Ramsey).

I would be very surprised to see Ramsey as compensation for the #1 pick. I would probably do that in a heartbeat, only because it appears that Ramsey actually wants to go and that it isn't just his agent talking. San Diego is afraid of drafting another bust QB, so I guess they might be looking at Ramsey as more of a sure thing. I don't think that is the deal though. We don't have the bank to pay for a #1 and #5 anyhow. We have enough stars on the team, we need some tough, hard working role players.

If that came true do it in a heartbeat. Draft Eli as he QB of the future. Draft Taylor, trade Champ and get RB. I could live with that. :D
Too bad its all a dream.

IF we get the #1 and 5 pics, we would have trade leverage to wield throughout the NFL. We don't have to pay big bucks just because we have the pics.

i dont know what the eagles can offer for the number 1 pick except multiple picks. and if they do get the #1 pick, then larry fitzgerald will be staying in pennsylvania.

i dont think bailey liked being lewis's system, so i dont really see this happening.

I wasn't saying anything about the draft. I was saying if managment ever woke up and decided what needed to be done to improve an already good team, they would be able to do it very easily, which would spell trouble.

Philly getting Fitagerald and we let Champ leave, man that could be a complete 180 degree turn on one side of the field. No matter what compensation we get for Champ we are going to lose out at his cornerback position. We would need to put both safties over to help Bauman cover him. I can't see it happening though as I believe Philly gets TO

Our #2 and Ramsey for S.D. #1. I'd take Manning over Ramsey, that's what ti would take. S.D. won't do this trade.

but guys...do we really need the #1 pick unless the skins really really like e. manning? we already have the #5 pick and the players projected to go 1,2,3,4 are not guys that we need/covet. plus, i dont see SD trading the #1 for Ramsey, IMO, he hasnt proven enough to give up the #1 for him....

Our #2 and Ramsey to SD? Are you kidding me? Why don't we just send them Coles while we're at it?

Hey folks, it was just an example to show you can't close your mind to any possibility. Ramsey has not proven he is worth refusing all offers.
And I would take San Diego's #1 for Ramsey and our #2 in a heartbeat....We could deal that #1 for a couple #1 lower in the draft or a 1 and a couple # 2......the possibilities would be endless...or even take Manning and groom him for the future without all this fuss from Ramsey....who still is nothing more than an average QB WITH promise.....but then we also thought Rypien, Schroeder and Ferrotte had promise, too, and see what that got us.
And I don't think trading down to get Udeze (who I desperately want us to pick) will get us much any more. He is quickly moving up and probably will go by the 8th pick.
