Dave Butz was easily the best we have had. But isn't that a sad commentary on our defensive tackles over the years?

Can't Diron get any respect? His last name is spelled "Talbert" not "Tolbert".

Diron was my hero. I wore his number througout jr high and high school.

YOOO HOOO #72

No ifs, ands, and, Butz about it. Big Dave was the absolute best, met him once at Wheaton Plaza when I was a youth, he was enormous, very cordial and friendly. Guess he wasn't so accomadting towards his opposition. That guy was an animal.

This is no slight on Butz, Talbert and even Grant, but this franchise is really short on great DTs. I'm a huge fan and couldn't even remember Tim Johnson. THen I started thinking about it and couldn't think of anyone better to put in the 4th spot.

Tim who? Did the same thing Boss! Sadly even though it's a hundred years latter, this list-poll isn't missing anyone!

Dave Butz: Named Redskins’ Defensive Player of the Year in 1978 and 1981… Captain of Super Bowl Championship teams in 1982 and 1987… Voted Defensive Player of the Year by the NFL Alumni in 1983… Pro Bowl selection in 1983… Third all-time on the Redskins’ sack list… Played 15 NFL seasons (14 with the Redskins)…

Where's the love for Diron Talbert? Talk about a 100% guy! I love Butz too, but Talbert probably made more big plays in a shorter career in D.C.

Plus, Talbert was always fingered by Landry's Cowboys in game planning becasue they knew he was a george Allen man to the bone, and therefore always raised his game when the Plowboys came up in rotation

Butz by far.

Remember how Butz's helmet was always so beat up from battling in the trenches. And then he would let his toddler son help him carry his helmet off the field to the lockerroom at the end of the game.

Brings back memories.

I picked Butz. When Butz and Grant teamed together thier has never been a better pair of DTs in washington before or since(hopefully gibbs will change that).

Daryl "World" Grant is obviously the funkiest DT in Redskins history, but Dave Butz is still the best.

This one was easy. By far Butz was the best. No one ran up the middle on Butz. I still remember what his helmet would look like after the game.

Butz was one of the best tackles in the league, much less Washington. I remember John Madden saying "I've seen many a running back run into Dave Butz but have yet to see one come out"
